So... comparing 94.7 performance...

fitness stats:

FTP 285

weight: 89kg's

W/kg @FTP = 3.2

94.7 race stats:
start group:  C

Avg power:  218W

NP:  274W

Race time: 2h53m59s

Max effort intervals:

1 hr = 240W

30 mins =  250W

20 mins = 265W

10 mins = 312W

5 mins = 340W

1 min = 498W

30s = 577W

5s = 1166W

Number of matches burnt according to Golden Cheetah = 39

Numbers on a page is purely indicative and has no meaning in the real world. Basing seeding on numbers churned our for 20 min is silly in my opinion.

Way too many factors affect race performance for numbers on a page to be accurate.

Yet the trendline from earlier seems to be holding true...

For sure but I wouldn't invest money based on a trend line!

Like the OP said - knowing a certain w/kg would probably get him into the next seeding batch would be motivational for him but I don't ever see a system where you email the PPA your FTP and they seed you working in real life.

No but I think for people wanting to know what it takes to get to a certain seeding level could look at this and understand. Also its interesting to see that the PPA seedings more or less hold up.

One likes to quote oneself from time to time :-)

Reminds me of an old accounting principle.

FTP is vanity - race result is sanity!

Yeah. I'm just a cranky old man who thinks people spend too much time looking at numbers and not enough time putting in the hard yards  :devil:

I maintain that the actual numbers mean very little - it's the change in numbers that means something when using "numbers" to structure your training.

No question ????????

A calculated effort over 20 mins does not mean solid racing acumen and excellent race craft over 180 mins in a bunch

So, after a quick chat to a fellow funrider at the DC, I guess he could ask for an A seeding with these numbers at 95kg?

Hahaha #beatthewindnottheclimb ????????

He would get a massive time penalty as it’s from 2012, so probably a M seeding. :P

Not sure about the numbers & I know its an old tweet but I had the privillege to sit in Mangus Backstedt's slipstream on Saturday, the winner of Paris-Roubaix. Poetry in motion but It was a world of pain for me. After both of us suffered mechanicals we literally time trialled from the 1st Feed Zone to the 2nd Feed Zone with no other assistance from other riders as the fast teams were long gone, needless to say i was quite relieved to have caught up to my team again. That was the highlight of my DC.

When the two of you came past me, he was on your wheel. #justsaying
