Evo Pro 2 Hubs creaking

I bought a set of Stan's Arch wheels on Evo Pro Hubs, after one ride I heard this creaking rather bad coming from the rear wheel, as one does I looked for the most complicated issue first, checked the free hub, bearing cassette the lot, turns out the axle was in need of grease, Greased it up and perfect, dead silence, then after 10 KM the noise slowly comes back as the grease wears thin, after 50KM it back and loud, re-grease and its quiet for a while.

Anyone else had this problem, I do see a few similar posts on English forum’s, same problem, same solution.

Anyone have any long term solutions’

Does the hub creak constantly or only when pedaling?

I've had a creak before but only when pedaling quite hard, I removed the freehub and then removed and cleaned the pawls, then applied grease to the pawls and applied some grease to the area where the pawl engage the hub body. No more creaking.

Yip, only while pedaling, when the axle is greased I have to apply a lot of pressure, once that grease has worn thin, mild pedaling brings the noise back.

I will try that tonight

Check for bearing play in the freehub and axle - probably worth just replacing all the bearings - it's a 10 minute job - remember to pack the new bearings full of waterproof grease before installing - gives you much better longevity - takes a few km to loosen up

I always use copperslip on the axle - seems to last longer than grease - you could try that too.

The bearings are all fine, including freehub, It looks like the gap between the axle and the hub converter, that pop on thing to bring the axle to a 12 x142 compatibility, not enough meat on it

quick question ... are you running a XD freehub?

if so, remove cassette ... clean outside of f/hub.... grease up the outside of f/hub where the splines of the cassette interface .... replace cassette and torque up that puppy nice and tight.

If it's a noise like cats pomping outside your window at 2am, this is your solution.

Yes, Key question, it is a Sram XD drive, and the solution does seem to be lubrication because I have spend hours looking for the obvious, bearings, spokes tention.

Let me take the cassette off and grease the Hub and the inside of the cassette, I will ride tonight and report back.

Guys thanks for your input, I think the problem is solved.

I took off the Cassette a eagle 50-10, with the 50t facing me I put a generous amount of grease on the inside of the of the cassette near the 10t, now it is absoilutley quiet.

Sometime a simple cost effective approach works,

i was getting creaking on on my Hope pro 4 hubs, realized through trial and error and costly replacement of many parts that it was my quick releases that were creaking.

WD40 to the clamp and it was quiet again. Ended up converting to 12mm TA to solve problem long term.
