Hermanus - Holiday Group rides

going to be in Hermanus for most of the December break.

Would be keen to join some rides and not always ride solo.

hermanus - hemel en aarde -karwyderskraal- loop is a great route

 

from hermanus - hemel en aarde - turn at karwyderskraal follow it whichever way toward Arabella/kleinmond then either turn up highlands road to peregrine or ride road on to kogelberg and up out the back and back to highlands road

 

kogelberg requires a permit just fyi

 

 

note for the roadies karwyderskraal pass between hemel en aarde tar and karwyderskraal tar road and highlands pass are NOT road bike friendly

That sounds like a great ride. 

Do you have an estimate on the distance of that?

 

I assumed you would need a permit for Kogelberg being Cape Nature, but where can one get a permit for Kogelberg? Price?

kogelberg issues permits at gate or you can get them through cape nature- check their website I think day permit is like 40

I have no idea of total distances of the whole route would depend on which sections you do

 

there is a nice river at the back of kogelberg for a swim break (birthday suit required)

 

im in kleinmond so  my data wont help you much

 

if you plan on riding thru kogelberg and up to highlands road -note- there is a sign saying don't and a small gate but that's up to you...

Hallo daar, ek trek gansbaai toe binnekort en sal graag n paar group rides will join in die Hermanus area. Gansbaai het ook goie mtb roetes vir die wat belangstel. Ek sal met graagte van julle rondwys en n braai en bier organiseer.

Highlands pass is the name and it looks amazing.

 

I did this a few weeks ago from Peregrine up and over Highlands Road, then popped over the hill on the other side, down the Hemel & Aarde trails, around the back of Hermanus and through to Stanford.  Was a nice ride and easy to do if you have the Mrs driving the car through anyway.   

 

I'll be in Stanford and would be keen for a ride over Christmas
