Advice on broken freehub

My rear wheel was signing and hobbing around today. What is the metal thing broken and the chip mark on freehub as well? It was worse when I didn't pedal but didn't go away when I was pedal. Sometimes it felt if somebody was holding my wheels as well.

The hub also feels loose as well.

Dude, take it to your LBS and they will sort it out for you snap snap... whatever the issue (looks like a retainer ring and/or bearing) the guys will pop it out, see what needs replacing and do that..... or order you a new free hub.

Either way I think LBS tomorrow before work is your best option here.... I don't think you are going to learn the DIY skills from opinions based on some pictures and fix it faster than the trusty mechanic.

Good luck though!

No it isn't. Off to your lbs with it.

I just went through the same issue with my AC rear hub, after about 3.5 years of use.  The plate around the axle that you are referring too inside the free hub is loose when you disasemble the hub.  Order a new driver from Evobikes the cost is about R1,000.  The new driver comes with the bearings already fitted and a new cam plate.  Also look on the AC website for the manual on how to overall the hub.  https://amclassic.com/index.php/downloads/dl/file/id/12/product/0/disc225_rear_hub_overhaul.pdf  While you are at it why not also replace the other two hub bearings. Bearing 6803 C3 (Evo also stock these).

That is an AMC hub and it is not broken. Looks like it needs a good clean and maybe new bearings.

The "retainer Clip" is not broken, it should look like that.

As per number 1 in the picture

That pin pushes onto the plate that activate the pawls

Thanks. Going to send the wheel of to my LBS. Bearings has less than 3000km and its Ceramic bearings. Aren't supposed to last longer?

Feel the bearings and see if they are ok?

Also post a pic of the other side of the hub, where the camplate and the pawls sit. From your picutures there does not seem to be anything wrong with that side. Except that the bearings could be pressed in a bit more, as this part should be held snug between the bearings

See the yellow part

Nothing broken there that I can see. Possibly just a bearing preload issue, but as has been said earlier nothing you'll diagnose by posting pictures.
