Ja, i think getting your number printed on Sunday morning should be a last resort. It could be chaos if everyone waits until then

Doesn't seem like this is even an option anyway. Refer to the top of post #1:

Please note that there will be NO late entries or registration available on Race Day.

I still find it bezare that people say r300 is expensive for entry... Cancel your dstv and you can do 3 events per month.

Also "i can ride road anytime ", sure, but I cannot find 10 other people to go race against.. Let alone a 1000.

If you really poor, then drop me pm and ill pay your ticket, but you better not arrive with your brand new BMW and r70k bike

i guess it's also about what you want to spend your money on...  people will happily cough out more than R300 for a restaurant visit, but not a bike race.

these races are also where i can get together with people of similar abilities.  i have learnt a lot about where i need to improve  (it's always the climbs).  you push yourself harder in a race than you will when riding around with your mates.  you can monitor your progress (or lack thereof) as well.  it's not just about riding the same roads every time. (which really isn't the case)

...and as much as i hate to admit, i've learnt that it isn't all about the bike.  i've seen guys smash it on ancient hand-me-downs which forced me to re-look at the whole n+1 thing.

So by your logic R200 for a loaf of bread is cheap.  Just drop your DSTV subscription and you can buy one every week.

Also, for a family of 4 DSTV still costs the same, but all of a sudden you have to fork out R1 200, and that only for entry...

I Have lots to say about this, but its no right thread.   If you see me on road this weekend , lets have chat.  (I'm the one not able to breath trying to hang on to my group)

Guys, drop it.

Karman and myself had a lekker chat over PM. We're not angry with each other.

And I've done a number of Burger's/SCT before, not as if it will be my first time and I'm loosing out on an experience. Been there, done that, got the medal (and my sub 2:45 time  :whistling: )

The same goes for all the road races currently on the calendar, I've done them all before, no biggie to me if I miss out on a few that in my view is not worth the expense, at current going rate.

Getting my number yesterday was pretty painless.

I'm really looking forward to this one. My fiance has opted out so I'm gonna be a lone wolf/wheel sucker/stream hunter on Sunday.

I think Potential excuse #1 I've got my feeding strategy sorted. Water in one bottle, Electrolyte in the other. Protein shake before, chewy sweets during and an emergency caffeine gel. I've stopped with the dates coz they taste like ass.

Had a bit of a stomach bug this week Excuse #2 so I'm not 100% but by tomorrow I should be back up to strength.

I'm not exactly prepared for this TBH. Excuse #3. I've been on my MTB mostly which is more of a gravity bike and the bit of road riding I've done this month has been centered around short punchy rides.

What works for me is  .. bottle water with electrolytes (Game) per hour  (or 2 if doing only 3 hrs). Banana every 45-60 minutes.  If  5+hrs, cookies and droewors to brake monotony of the sweet

Probably not best, but works for now.
