They win.. they just don't win the TDF...which in a lot cycling fan's/press eyes seem to be the only race that matters..sigh.

We should be hard on Sky..why has it taken them so long to win another GT.. and why don't they win more one day races [emoji6][emoji6][emoji6]

Yah, they do, but (and its just my opinion) they invested too much time, money and effort into NQ who, despite his acclaim, never produced the required results.

Signing Landa in my opinion, Moviestar has signaled an end to that era, Landa is going to race for podium and NQ will have to either step up or step out.

Suppose the fact that he won 2 GTs and a couple of podiums bought him some time..

Hopefully Landa's presence will give him some added motivation..but I donno if it will.

Yah, I don't know, but at that level Movistar would have wanted one TDF win from him, at the very least, after his second place in 2013 I think that's when they started investing heavily in him as a tour winner, but his following second place in 2015 doesn't cut the mustard anymore, and frankly since his 2016 Vuelta win he has had more excuses than podiums.

I see Landa as Movistar's card now.

Think the Landa to movistar deal was done bit not official in July already.

Ag I hope De La Cruz won't go backwards at Sky.

I wonder about Geraint Thomas at Sky too...where does he fit in in 2018.

Ja now there is a thing...he said (just before the Froome news broke) that he will be looking at other options after his contract which ends at the end of 2018..

As for 2018.. maybe the Vuelta (assuming Froome doesn't get a ban) would like to see him have a good go at the Ardennes but if he is on Froome duty there is no way he will be allowed to shift focus.

Agreed, he could do with some luck and a crack at a Grand Tour...

Yah, but I don't know where he would go where he could be a possible leader, and he is pretty untested as a leader as well, so its hard to see who would take him on in that position.

Been a domestique on Sky means you stay a domestique, no matter how good you may be or have the potential to be, but on the other hand, leaving I assume an above average paid and stable position as a domestique on Sky, to be another well paid domestique on another team is probably self defeating,......on the other hand I cant see him ever been top dog there, so it may also be prudent to jump ship while he can.

I'm sure that's his thinking (move on time)...even more so now with the Sky soap opera!!

There are 3 maybe 4 guys who can a win a GT. Those guys are already at the teams who can support a GT winner.

How many super doms have tried to become team leaders at the slightly lower level teams only to fade away....?

If I was G, I would stay 2IC at a winning team rather than try to be the top dog at a not winning team.

Agreed. SuperDom and GT Contender are worlds apart.

What a rider can or can't do in the last 2km of a race changes literally everything.

Come to think of it, perhaps his best chance of winning a GT is if Froome DNFs and he takes the reins or SKY reward him with a shot at the one that Froome isn’t doing. Least that way he will have a strong team to support him?

Care to share your 4 picks for GT wins?

Hmmm Froome, Nibali, Landa, Poomie maybe?

Then you get the Portes, Arus, Quintanas, Bardets who are supposed to win but probably can’t.

Then you get the super doms who could maybe win but probably can’t but also aren’t supposed too, think G falls in here.

But I don’t know much about bicycle racing remeber ;)

Ready, steady, machine gun it!!!

If anything happens to CF then G will "assume the position" so to speak ;-)
