So I am in the process of finalizing my new bike from a local specialized road bike shop in JHB. (Bianchi with Campy SR) My question is this..... which pedals should I go for? (BTW, I am no Pro) cant wait????

Have not had an issue with my Look Keo pedals for 3 years running!

I had a Shimano set before, not bad either.

But I'd stay with the Look Keo's!

Plenty options in this range.....

FWIW. My fiance was VERY new to riding and really struggled with shimano. We got her a set of Look Keo's and she was much happier. The shimano's are now on my bike. And I do sometimes slip off the pedal when clipping in. This doesn't seem to happen wit the Looks.

well done for going to spaz store and buying a real bike with a real groupo instead of a spaz

look keo pedals in whatever model you fancy (reliable/work well/good price/cheap replacement cleats)

get a pro bike fit before you ride its worth the extra $$

Look Keo Blade Ti axle are the only pedals for that bike spec. Keo grip cleats are easier to come by. Speedplay spares are hard to find. Time cleats I find too bulky and not as popular as Look. Go for the 16nm torque on the Blades. 12nm is for the real newbie and 20nm for the elite rider. Shitmano is a no no on a Campy specced bike.

Booked the bike fit already. Cash flying out of the window. So seems like LOOK is the way to go? Was lloking at the Vector, until I saw the price..... perhaps next year when I join the Colnago family.

Pedal based power meters are always prone to damage IMO. For power rather get a crank based like Quarq (best priced dual sided pm but only avail with SRAM or Pracis rings) or Power2Max ( this one comes with a Campy crank). If you after just left leg measurement Stages is cost effective.

Uhm....please no. Lets get the bike first and then start saving for the rest. Appreciate your professional assistance with the pedal question. See y’all on the road. Keep pedalling. And keep safe.

I dunno... Look are popular for good reason, but I went from look Keo blades, to shimano 105.. Nest move I ever made. Easy to service bearings myself, adjustable tension unlike look, nice and light in carbon, super secure, and best of all, their cleat design means you can actually walk on them when you need to without looking like Bambi on ice...

Also, they're waaaaaaaay less expensive.

I moved from Keo to Shimano's a long time ago - never had issues technically with either - and prefer that the Shimano's are easier to walk around in - I kept losing the covers for the Look cleats - or not taking them with on rides with coffee stops...

  1. My newish (CRC bought) Look blade pedals are shot after a few months of riding - bearing was rough with some play.
  2. tried to open it....but destroyed / stripped the bolt (looked like a torque key slot - but was not... )
  3. Tried to use a easy out bit, but it broke off.
  4. its m@er toe now

don't think Look is the quality it used to be

Want to move over to Shimano, but like all my bikes to have the same pedals  - 3 road bikes and one monstercross bike all have Look keo pedals. Not really want to buy 4 sets now...
