Bringing a bike back from Germany

I bought a used bike in a private sale in Germany - Will be bringing it back as checked luggage on my next trip over there.

What can i expect from customs at ORT

Do i declare it ?

Would there be taxes and duties ?

I could just say its my bike i'm bringing back from Germany, I go there 5 times a year and used it to commute !

Anybody have any experience in doing this - would like to hear your comments

They probably have on record that you did not bring a bike to Germany. So dont lie about that. Tell them (if tjeyhey ask and as you said) it was used as a commuter there...

I have brought bikes through on a number of occasions in a bike bag (mostly bikes that I had left with, but no documentation of that). Personal kit, I would not expect much fuss. I have never been stopped.

I've done this back in 2008, bought a bike in the UK, brought it back as checked in luggage but by then it was a used bike (5months old). Did not declare it & no issues through customs. Told the official I'm here for Cycle Tour.
