Bike Transport to the Argus

I am still conflicted about whether to ride the Argus. I have all my family in CT and in all honesty I feel bad about coming to CT to enjoy myself and have fun, while they are going through water restrictions, only for me to return to JHB a week later. While I understand the water neutrality commitment and I can see the numbers that you guys have posted, this remains an emotive issue (rightly/wrongly). I would appreciate this post not becoming a discussion around the water restrictions and the Argus.

So the back and forth in my mind leaves me with having to plan for whatever decision I arrive at.

Accommodation and airfare - tick

Car rental - undecided - however Bidvest has car & bike rack rental

Bike travel - undecided

There are many options regarding bike travel and I am looking for one in particular that will meet my needs, however I am unable to find such a solution in and amongst the ones on offer.

I need the following as I will be in CT from Fri 9th to Fri 16th:

Bike to arrive in CPT on Friday 9th and given back on Thurs 15th, to be transported to back to JHB. This allows me to do some post Argus rides.

Critically, I am technically challenged so the option to have the bike stripped and packed in a box by myself or anyone else does will not do. There are current options where the guys transport your bike without removing a single part and this the option I wish to take.

A bit of a tall order, but at last years aborted Argus I met a guy who transported bikes and he only moved them back to JHB a few days after the event. For the life of me I cannot find his business card or remember his name/company details.

Any ideas out there?

Our company, Cycloport,  is also offering transport to the Argus we return on the Tuesday after the race so latest collection will be Tuesday morning. If that helps at all give us a call and we can make arrangements, no disassembling required bikes are transported ready to ride.

Hi

Looking for somebody/company that can take a few bikes (up to 5 bikes) to CT. The bikes have to be in CT by Thursday, Wednesday even better. Most of the usual companies only arrive on Friday.

Thanks

You try Nightwing Couriers? They used to run trucks down to CPT from Josi just with bikes for guys wanting to ride.

Give them a shout, might get lucky.

How are you getting down there?

I am not sure the usual "argus couriers" will be there so early.

Flying Wednesday evening with Kulula. They are asking R340 oneway. Picking up an dropping off at the stadium is less hassle than boxing the bike and getting it to and from the airport.

Ok yeah I agree its much less of a hassle. I used to fly my bike with me(it's also cheaper to fly it) but went with a courier company last year(the same one I posted at the start of this thread) and it was so much easier that I will gladly pay extra again. In fact I have gone with them again this year. Hope you come right, keep us posted if you do please.

Maybe a bit of a silly question.

I've booked my bike with Joggie, but once I hand my bike back to him after the race how do I get to my car ?

Whats the parking like around the stadium the morning of the race ?

If I had normal shoes I would not mind the walk back to the car, but in cycling shoes not so great.
