Them (over the fone): ya, we found the funny noise. It's your Shimano SPDs

Me: ok, can you service them for me?

Them: nah man... those aren't serviceable. Would you like a quote on new ones?

Me (calling back): it took me a minute to find a Youtube video on servicing SPDs, you charlie!!!

Have also been told by an LBS that you couldn't service these and would have to buy a new set...Once I got hold of that little thingymabob that unscrews the shaft from the body it was plain sailing.....

Edit: Forgot to add= Helped a friend the other day to straigthen handle bar. Took top cap off for some reason and found  a blob of grease filling the space between star nut and top cap 100%

That sounds like a certain "bike shop" in Durbanville, which uses bobbejaan spanners to loosen shock air cans...

Had a 11-46T cassette and wanted to see if it will fit. Asked him to if I can somer put in on there and check quick. Using his repair stand.

HIM "what rear deraileur do you have ?"

me: "11 speed GX 1x11"

"Wont work, GX will only work with SRAM 42T, you need LONG cage GX"

me: "ahh OK"

Went and put the 11-46T on the video is on youtube showing perfect shiffting and enough RD movement left that when the suspension is bottomed the RD does not reach the stop.

BTW you DONT get a long cage GX, 1 x 11 is long cage.

Another shop

I am interesed in carbon Stages PM.

Can you put the Carbon stages on my bike here please and just check if it will clear the chainstay, I took the axel out, so we can see if it will clear when we put it against the bearing or with a stages axel please.

It did not.

I left the shop, asked the hub

Checked with Stages and there is a special spacer that should be in the added on the left 11.9mm or something to move the arm out so it clears the chainstay

Got the Stages, and Spacer, and Spindle (axel) from another place and

I've come across that a few times with different shops so maybe there's a reason?

"please order me a 11-46t Sunrace cassette" .... "for which derailleur" .... "SRAM GX" .... "it will not work, SRAM Cassette 10-42t is only one that will work with GX Derailleur" .... "But this bike on the stand has a 11-50t 11spd cassette with GX?" ...."oh" ....

Yes there is that also. You take the fork out and 14kg of grease with with sand stuck in it drop out also. Makes very nice griding past, esp on the bottom bearing.

lost some pressure on my tubby riding to the start line, stopped at the lbs - he proceeded to drill into the valve extender  with a tiny steel bit, after about 10mins said he can't clear the valve to top up the air - he had no tubbys in stock so i rode the tour with low tyre pressure - only to discover post ride that the valve extender could be unscrewed soaked in hot water for the sludge to soften, blow out the gunk, screw back  and pump the wheel.  :whistling:

There is, it's called being lazy. They load grease when the headset bearings go in. Then when the fork is slid in it collects all the excess grease from the headtube into the steerer.

stopped at a shop in a long mtb ride, wanting to buy a tube. "need a 27.5 tube" ..... "which bike?" .... "Cannondale Habit, why you ask" ..... "people sometimes buy the wrong tube, we always ask" .... "probably a good reason" .... "how are you going to fit it when you are on a trail, that is what I have against the Lefty, it is a such a hassle to remove the front wheel when you have to install a tube" .... "oh really?"
