Specialized epic Evo?

It's apparently going to be an XC bike that can take on the techy stuff too. I'm guessing slightly slacker head angle, 120mm fork (the new SID), and standard with a dropper post.

I think it's gonna be a much more suitable bike than the normal Epic for 99% of people doing stage racing and marathon riding.

Lots of brands going that route - Yeti with their new XC bike, Intense with their Sniper - I like it alot and I am keen to see what Spaz come up with.

Pointless IMO. That is why there is a Camber 29 ST.

I heard Camber is being discontinued... Replaced by Stumpjumper ST (Short Travel)

I think he meant to say Stumpy ST.

Although the Epic Evo and Stumpy ST will be very different bikes. Stumpy ST 120/130mm travel, longer, slacker, heavier, and more burly. Epic Evo will still be a full on race bike 100-110mm rear travel, 120mm front, more race geo, light, XC equipment.

In other words just a more "fun"/modern and capable XC bike whereas the Stumpy ST is a short travel trail bike.

Personally i think bike companies are running out of ideas and are reinventing the wheel to make money out of us. Not just bike companies but others also, this is a great example right here.

Nothing wrong with the current epic or camber, why change something that works

Yeah, after road bikes with discs they have hit the bottom of the barrel

How do you think they got to this point? Innovation...

Pointless saying something works so why change it? Imagine we were still driving cars that had carburetors or dial-up connections :whistling:

So when will the new epic Evo be avail? Was going to buy a “current “ Epic but might as well wait to see what the Evo is all about.

It's still rumours at this point. So won't be available in SA before 2019, even if the rumours are confirmed today.

Not everything is about 'US'. Maybe it's about getting results out in the field, and the normal Epic may not always be the best suited.

Personally I think this class of bike has long been needed. The thing that puts me off XC bikes is the twitchy, ass up head down geo, pedals nice up but doesn't descend well. Bikes like the Camber are cool, but are still not a true XC bike.

For me this hits the nail on the head perfecrly for what I have wanted from an XC bike for a long time now.

I agree that the industry often makes junk up to get our cash - but this is one thing I can really buy in to.

Innovation is great, agreed, but dont remove the old one completely if there is people that paid big cash for it and will need parts later on. As an example i prefer 2 x 10, and i am struggling to find replacement drivetrain setups, both road and mtb as i am still 10 speed on both.

Thats what i find frustrating.
