Hi here is my new project, does anybody own a trimble and what do they think of them

1 X chain ring in 1991?

There’s a lesson there to be learnt

Cool looking bike, did it originally have a rigid fork?

trimble, as in the pioneers of GPS?

Not the pioneers of GPS, but the pioneers of measuring digital geospatial information and certainly world leaders in surveying equipment and terrestrial scanners.

GPS is technically the satellites above our heads which were designed and built and run by the US government.

Here is an interesting idea/thought, until other positioning constellations were launched if the USA decided one day to encrypt the GPS message/signal all of our devices would have been made entirely obsolete. Not sure if they could have done it in terms of execution due to practicality but in terms of logical thought patterns it should be possible.

The bike was made with a rigid fork but the rockshox is period correct and dates from 1991,the single blade is not original but ill sort that out ,new pads for the maguras ,new paint bit of tlc and its ready for some fun

I've owned Trimble mtb's since 1988. That one you own is made of a composite/kevlar mix in 1988 Mean't for use with a rigid fork & U brake. The lighter carbon version was made in 1991 till approx 94 and fitted cant'i  brakes on the rear  Then in 2005 David Trimble started making a more modern carbon frame. Mean't for 100 mm susser forks, OS headset, disc's brakes and either 26er or 29er. Stopped making them in 2007 i have a 2005 frame. It's a wonderful mtb. Here are mine. With so much space and the rear end just drives out of corners.post-131552-0-23718400-1528820099_thumb.jpgpost-131552-0-43913800-1528820156_thumb.jpg

Sorry i'm not in SA. I'm in GB. I'm always on the web hunting for Trimbles. Some times i or friends catch people using my bikes pictures as their own. I was surprised to find one in SA. Quite a few in Japan and Europe.
