Just a question - what's the point of using an escrow service if you're going to release goods without payment? You may as well contact that Nigerian prince for his hidden millions that he needs R 50k to release...

 

I think what you just spent is called school fees. Move on. One day he'll scam the wrong oke and get his reward.

I think that was part of the con, the buyer convinced the seller he had a "guy" that could true the wheels cheaper, which allowed them to be taken from Cyclelab. The op may not have smelt a rat yet and assumed it was just a formality seeing the guy had already inspected the wheels in person.

 

I wouldn't leave it, not sure I would open a legal case but the op is young, great to learn how the law works at a young age, sets you up for life in that regard. If he can get legal aid I'd advise him to do it, purely to learn form the experience.

The pics are of Mark Raubenheimer and it seems his son Dane Raubenheimer now runs the patio company but it has been around since 1982 so obviously the same patio company connected to Mark Raubenheimer
