My xt 1x 11 only give me 1900km and was cleaned properly after each ride, now looking at sunrace with KMC chain ,but would it last longer

The Sunrace/KMC option might not give you more km's, but it will be cheaper to replace every time.

Can't comment on the 11-46 but I got 2300km out of my Sunrace 11-50 with KMC chain and 34t oval chainring. There were no issues with it but I got a good deal on a new 11-50 Sunrace off the hub that someone bought when CWC had them on special. Fitted the new one for Transbaviaans and put the used one on my wifes bike. It is still going strong.

You should get much more from a cassette, Something is wrong.

Maybe worn chain or something else.

Cassette should last 3 chains or more. Describe the problem, Pictures.

That is if the chain is replaced at the correct mileage yes.

I've seen guys get similar only 1500km out of cassette and then the 11t gets worn to the point where the chain slips, new chain ain't fixing that.

I've also seen guys get 7000km out of one cassette/chain combo. Boils down to riding style IMHO.

Hi,did change chain on 1000km , second chain lasted 900km , now complete cassette also are sliping with new chain, I don't power shift at all,so now looking for more robust ,not warried about weight

Is it slipping on all the cassette cogs ?

Can you see if the cogs are actually worn ? (compare with picture of a new cassette)

If the cogs are worn replace cassette and chain  and do all the adjustments.

If the derailleur spring has too little tension it can cause skipping.

If the chain is too long it can cause skipping on the smaller cogs only.

Is your derailleur compatible with 11-46 cassette ?

It would not hurt to do all the adjustments anyway.

Lubing the chain every ride helps to get longer life out of cassette and chain.

Best chain tool I bought was the chain wear indicator. Replace chain at 0.75%. The lifespan of chains seems pretty random. Some last 3 months, some more than a year riding once or twice a week.

The quickest way to destroy a cassette is with a worn chain.

To get longer life from a chain Never Wash your bike. Detergent Gets inside the chain and washes out the Special Factory Mooty they put in when the chain is made.

Just wipe the bike down with a wet cloth . Also degreasing a chain and oiling does not work as well. A wipe with an oily cloth and a touch of lube every ride is all the chain needs. (Does not look as good but it will last longer).

I'm getting 3000 plus on chains since I stopped degreasing. I also use the tool to check the chain every 100 K's or so.

I don't degrease, there are some discussions on bikehub about wrecking your chain by soaking in degreaser, can causes cracks in the plates where the rivets join because of some time of uneven expansion. There is some engineering science behind this problem. I wash with paraffin in a chain washing device after riding in rain or mud. Or if the chain starts building up a bit of wax.

I need to wash my bike with soapy water, I don't care if it reduces the life of the chain. Bike must look clean.

Hi, what 11spd 11-46cassette give best km using a 34t,

In my experience Sram cassettes, especially the cheaper ones last forever so my vote would be for a Sram NX cassette.

Currently sitting at 6000km on my GX cassette with no slipping at all - changing to 1x12 now so I'm gonna retire it, but I'm guessing I could get quite a few more km from it. Just make sure you clean your drivetrain and replace chains often...

Hi got 8000km out of my Shimano XT 11spd Cassette! We did all the hard races like Tankwa, Ride to No where, a very muddy Attakwas and the Cape Epic. I have 8 chains that I degrease, clean and relube and rotate once a week. I will change my Cassette now but 8 chains was to many for one cassette, the chains have some life left, but not the Cassette. This time I will use 6 chains. The nice part of this system is that if you wash you bike, the are a clean chain waiting and you can clean the old chain at some other time. ( BE WARENED!!!! Buying 2- Cassetts, 12-  chains and 2- sets of front sprockets,{Have to do my and the wife's bike} can make you want to start plying bowls!!)

Hi, thanks for all info, now going to try sunrace cassette bottom range and the KMC chain , do buy two chains , to try swop them every 2 weeks , I did a lot of home work also, my negative against me is my size , using a 180mm cranks seems to eat drivetrains.

Agree with the comments on the Sunrace.

I have the all steel 42-11 and the 46-11 (the granny is alu) - they have way outlasted the XT.
