Ok, so I did some window shopping and I have a clear winner on my first road bike....

I am a total "neut" when it comes to road bikes, so would like some advice...

(a)  Compact or normal crankset?

(b)  Which cluster?  11-23, 12-27??

Thanx!

J

Normal crank with 12/25. No need for compact or 27 for ridng here as we dont really have lots of mountains that require those ratio's

compact or standard crankset depends on you:

Are you going to be riding in hilly areas or on flats?

Are you a heavier rider?

You'd only fit compact cranks to make any uphills easier to ride.

Some ppl say that you run the risk of "topping out" when you're gunning it on the downhills.

And then your casette ratio would be determined by your choice of crankset.

Dutch, in my price range I was thinking the Silverback Monza.

Looks for me like the best value for money....  (and is a nice looking bike as well!!)  Thumbs%20Up

Pappadoupolos, have they got stock for the Monza?? I was told no complete bikes in kansas/detroit frames and very limiting sizes in the monza.

I'm also looking at a roadbike and like the S.B carbon bikes..but i'm scared going the carbon route. One nasty wipe out and tata my frame.

Go compact, if you?re not a cocaine fueled sprinter the top end loss of speed should not be a problem. Big%20smile<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

PS: They are lighter too.Thumbs%20Up
