Think about this, your region (NOT CSA) gets a very large part of the income from sanctioning and races:

Part of the sanctioning fee (not sure what part)

Half of all riders’ levies CSA R5 -Region R5

Most of Day licenses CSA R10 -Region R20 -Race organiser R5 (If they are collected of course)

Most regions charge a club affiliation fee, CSA get none of this.

Regions that are properly run can apply for Lotto funding and all types of other governmental support.

Why is it that the regions cannot assist the riders that got chosen to go to worlds?

As cyclists we must get involved with our clubs and regions.

No, we shouldn’t all have to get involved. The fact that we must is evidence in itself that they are not competent.

People cannot all do everything purely to manage the corrupt or incompetent.

As an expample. It is not the cyclist fault that CSA didn’t pay Hollard.

The cyclist loyally paid their fees to them, CSA and nobody else mismanaged it, and have not been held accountable. The fact that you refuse to acknowledge this is baffling.

The story of putting money into CSA to get something out, grief, I'm tired of that. Along with races getting money from CSA because they are sanctioned. Actually what happens is each entrant gets "taxed" and that goes to CSA. This is money that would have been factored as an entrance fee.

I DO support the idea of a national body for the sport and I HAVE seen how CSA commissaires can be of (some) assistance to events but the big picture is that the little people are taking all the risks to run these events and the officials cruise in to take a cut with an eye only for the FEW licensed riders.  I don't know how this is going to change unless CSA wakes up and uses some muscle to get sponsorship for the sport because the average Joes and Johlene's can't do that and this bottom-up taxation story doesn't work for the people paying the tax.

Seriously.

Look at Kwelera 2 Kei - I doubt they'll be sanctioned this year because CSA is going ballistic about waterpoints where you might stop for a beer or a shooter.  Big no-no. And as far as I know, K2K is one of the fastest growing MTB events in the country, where others are withering.

Clubs? Pffft. We all want to ride our bikes not take on a second (unpaid) job.

Don't pick this bone with me.

Then you get people who call out licensed riders planning to ride non-sanctioned events.  Why?  Why shouldn't they?

PS to the above - it costs to have CSA at your event, incase you don't know that.  A good few thousand for their petrol and time and maybe accommodation too.  And affiliation fees.  That is where some of your entry money is going.

What BS, CSA can suck a bag.

I would love to see them actually do their job and cross reference riders who do Karoo to Coast to their own data base. As event not sanctioned event not going to send them a handy Excel spread sheet. Ain’t gonna happen.

These are the same bell ends that just asked Athletes going to worlds for R4k.

We even told the CSA official at a certain tour in Cape Town we not buying licenses. She said we would get fined etc. yeah, never happened and she had the names in her hand.

When they stop being useless and wasting money for no value, then maybe pay them something...

Why is it that CSA cannot offer proper assistance to the riders that get chosen to go to worlds? They're the ones getting Lotto and governmental funding. This whole "We are limited and can't afford and others must do their share" is rubbish. And your description of CSA's devious and fraudulent dealings as a "hiccup" are laughable.

Now you've killed the thread... or one side of it anyway
