Strava not recording

Is anyone else's strava not recording correctly?

I have two phones, two different service providers.

GPS signal good, cellphone coverage good.

I tried enabling and disabling auto pause

Strava starts recording, then stops after about a minute or two.

Average speed in cycling is bonkers, as well as lap times in running.

The attached screenshot was taken after a 30km, 17km/h, +- 1hr 45m ride at cowhouse.

Have you updated the app? I had the same problem with Strava a little ago, then it decided to work again - I'm not sure if that was because I did a system update on my phone or because I updated the app.

Use a free App called GPS Locker together with Strava App (Android).

It keeps your GPS updated at all times.

Thanx! I'm going to try this

Make sure phones are not on any power saving mode.

This shouldn't make a difference (unless an additional powersaving setting is applied, which doesn't exist on my version of android), I've been cycling with my phone on powersaving for over a year and no issues.

My Strava just up and crashed on Saturday. "Lost" a quality 80km ride. Seeing its not on Strava, its as good as I never rode. Bleak.

official response from Strava's support team....

please simply try turning your phone completely off then on and flipping location services off then back on

Same happened to me when I did the Deloitte Cycle Challenge earlier this year. It was only 40km, but it would have helped if I had a Strava recording of the ride. I had to take pics of my bike computers screen as proof.

Edit: all sorted now, but not sure if the app will play ball again on my next ride.

I had this with my phone recently. If its Android, this may help:

Go to you Settings > Battery settings > Manage Apps (battery usage)

Here, you can enable individual apps to run in the backgrounds, using GPS. If your phone is like mine (Xiaomi), then OS aggressively disables backgrounds apps from using GPS etc, to preserve battery. I added exceptions for Strava, Polar Beat etc.

Thank you!

Mine is a Xiaomi too. I've disabled battery saver for Strava etc
