Ciccone pretty much stitched this one up. Mathematically Masnada would need to get at least 180 of those remaining points, but that ain't happening. i think he will cruise into verona now

There are 245 points left out of a total of 1123 points in the king of mountains (KOM) classification
78.2%

I saw that too. I just think the elation, and probably frozen hands, he just couldn't hold on to them. KILLER ride from him today.

How was that move when he tried to put his rain jacket on? Struggled, then just moered it aside, BAD ASS.

BAD ASS move which he surely regretted. I'm pretty sure his teeth are still clattering from the cold.

POP QUIZ - no googling or checking allowed

Who was the DDD rider who won that Giro stage 11 in 2017?

Did they have a Izagirre brother? Maybe him or Omar F? Can't be that hard, there hasn't been many.  :whistling:

Who could forget Omar Fraile's victory. That was a massive stage!

I for one did....probably would have got it from multiple choice - should have tried that!

If Roglic and Nibali have anything left in the tank they will throw it at him on Saturday, that you can be sure of.

Going to be epic!

Consider his physical build  vs the other contenders and then ask yourself did the stage really suit him? I think it didn't. He's got power but he's not a climber. Carapaz and Nibali are tradionally better climbers.

The question is how much damage did they do to his ability to recover when they head back into terrain that suits him better?

That was sort of my point. Remembering Wiggins when he first started racing GC.

It doesn't suit him, but if he wants to win GT's he will need to get better riding where it hurts most. I hope he does.

Carapaz is the strongest climber in the race and will most likely gain some more time over Roglic before the final TT.. I doubt whether Nibali has the legs to do much more damage and Movistar should be able to cover any attacks from him.

Personally I hope Carthy makes the top 10 after all the heart and grit that he showed... also hope Sivakov can keep his top 10 position  ... he has been very impressive especially taking into consideration that the very steep terrain suits the more explosive climbers more than a bigger and heavier rider such as him.

The biggest disappointment for me so far is Ben O Conner who certainly failed to live up to the hype.

Today it should be Ackerman or Demare ........ or Gibbons     :P .

Hopefully the pesky de Gendt and other breakaway artists  wont try something funny today and make the chase too hard.

You know what is going to happen:

Strong breakaway will form and DD will feel compelled to pull them back, wasting their efforts and then nobody is left to lead out their sprinter/s...

But it is a pan flat finish, so Demare and Ackerman are the ones to beat, Demare is only 13 points ahead of Ackerman, it means this finish can probably be decicive in who takes the jersey home. Bora won't let the break succeed today.

Why not try something different, like a full out attack at the 90° turn with 1.8km to go by two guys where the first one just burns all his matches to launch the 2nd oke and see if it sticks. There is no wind to speak of so an attck might just work. At least you could get some airtime for the sponsors.
