That time where you need to upgrade your steed. My current bike since 2015 is a Giant Propel Adv 0 ultegra di2 with some deepsections.

Planning to upgrade to either Giant TCR discs or Spez Tarmac Discs

Both bikes comes with Ultegra Di2 and Discs

Giant comes with a power metre

Price diff

Giant R77k

Spez R110K

Would love the Sworks but at R180k its just not justifiable in my opinion unless cash is no issue.

Is it worth spending R30K more to ride the big brand Spez or should I go for the cheaper option

Yes taking into account each person will have their opinions etc

Specialized is an amazing brand - their new bikes are pieces of art.

Are they worth the additional R33k? Probably not. If money was no issue, I would definitely be riding a new Spez.

For R30k you can throw on better wheels, upgrade the bar/stem to carbon and maybe a lil more.

Get the TCR, best bang for buck.

I also have my eye on the TCR, popped into my LBS 2 weeks back and they have it on the floor. Will be my reward when i'm fit and fast again.

Take the giant with its power meter and put 33k in your pocket.

No doubt about it.

If you feel you really need to ride Specialized I wouldn’t buy the tarmac pro.

Look at the tarmac expert disc( normal retail selling about 77k)

Try get the dealer to trade in the current groupset( ultegra mechanical) and upgrade to etap disc.

You’ll end up with carbon frame, carbon wheels and etap disc for less than the price of the pro.

he has a propel already, so a nice all-rounder like the TCR would be a better choice imo.
