Trek costs more than the bikes that Giant make for themselves.  The bikes that Trek actually make (ie their top end carbon frames) are way overpriced in comparison to the other carbon offerings out there.  There are a few die-hard Trek fans (like 101% and co)' date=' but when you get your bike for free it is easy to be a fan.Wink[/quote']

linnega!!! You seriously miss informed!!!! WE PAY FOR OUR BIKES !!!!!!

You can't compare Trek to Giant !!! Giant don't only make there frames but make for hundreds of other brands we see on our roads . Trek do all there top end frame inhouse .

1st point!!! what sort of frame technology and research can be done if they bring out a new design every year??? Trek have over 50 Engineers working on their technology for about 4 years before launching a new product,

Look at bikes like Raleigh . You've hardly enjoyed your bike or ridden it in properly then all of a sudden spy photo's come out of next years model and you bike drops in value like a ton of bricks .

2nd point! Trek give a "life time warranty on there frames" Not many manufactures have that sort of confidence in there products .

The biggest problem with us cyclist is we all believe we know everything about cycling !!! We've all got the attitude "cause I ride it , that makes it the best"

Most people only run Trek down cause of there gripes with Armstrong/Discovery ,

Take emotions out when buying a bike . Buy what you can afford and what will give you the best warranty , specs and price.

Dont think just because it comes is funky colours that match your shoes it a good bike!!Wink

the old 2300 i own used to be a really ugly yellow and blue. now it's been sprayed matt black with the logos painted on it. it is possibly the sexiest bike ever to grace the roadCool

LOLLOLI'm proud to say back in the day I rode one aswell , with those lekker red Rolf vector wheels !!! Folded it in half around a taxi door thoughConfused

it did have those wheels when it used to belong to my boet. now that it's all black (with a black 105 grouppo), i have a pair of velomax wheels. i scratched one of the stickers, so i tore them all off. looks mighty sleek. will try post a pic on tuesday.

I have a Trek mtn bike and a Trek road bike. They are both gr8 bikes. The reason I know this is cos they have not yet collapsed under my fat ass.

I wonder what the Madone owners think that some of the models, like the 4.5s and 4.7s are made in the east. I must add that I like them more because they do not have that fugly stumpy semi-integrated seatpost.

And I think the 08 Remedy is hot.

I have a GT ,Silverback ,Garry Fisher and a Trek.

All MTB and Hard tail except for the Garry Fisher witch is a DS

I placed the same components, wheels and tires on all of the bikes so the only difference is in the frames.

I prefer the Trek because its much more responsive, it handles better and climes faster.

But this all cames down to what bike geometry works best for you.

The Trek works for me but something els my be better for you.

I don't care about the make or looks. I want a good warranty and something that I will enjoy riding.

I have a Trek 7200 Hybrid. Lekka bike..... I just cannot remeber where it is now..... in my store room or with my son. It is nicely jazzed up with carbon fork, stem and handlebars, carbon seat post and 105 groupset. I still need to get new wheels..... but then it is a half bike and I do not get the opportunity to ride half bike that much.

After being here for a couple of months I've noticed that brands such as Cannondale' date=' Bianchi, Specialized, Giant, Cervelo are all very popular, but Trek is not. Is this because of fashion trends or are Trek bikes inferior for some technical reason, or does it have to do with Lance? Was just wondering (no offense to anyone trying to buy or sell a Trek).[/quote']

Well that summed it up... why so many pages of drivel?

Makes no difference in my life... I like my Prince. I like it even better with the Campag on it. I don't really care where it was made. My scooter is from China, and it is perfect for what it is. My motard comes from japland isn't just the best thing since sliced bread, it beats the **** out of sliced bread any day.

Oh, and I'm from the focking east tooWink
