MudLark Posted November 12, 2018 Share Hi guys, I have a Trek Top Fuel 9.8 SL on the one hand and a Trek Emonda 6 SL Disc on the other hand. With the former I have used a hydration pack on my back to date but quite frankly I want to get rid of the thing. After yesterday's 94.7 55 km MTB race, I have realised is really not necessary and also it is a massive heat trap. But the bike only has, as it comes from the factory, a single bottle cage mounting point within the frame. So I need to go for a seatpost mount. What are the better available options out there in this regard? As an aside, I did see that there is also available a combined saddlebag/single bottle mount. Quite attractive as it means all the spare parts et cetera can go into that as well but a single bottle may sometimes not be adequate if one is riding an unsupported route (by unsupported I mean no water points), in which case one probably really wants at least three bottles on the bike – one in the frame and two on the back. I did notice yesterday that a lot of people lost a lot of bottles along the way. But that's not a big issue for me as I will figure out a way of securing the bottles within the cages so that they cannot fall out – perhaps using tough elastics or something like that. The key thing is to figure out what the best options are in terms of seatpost mounts. I am mentioning my road bike as well as, although it has standard mounting points for two bottles (which I have so far used successfully) again, on occasion one might want a third bottle and perhaps very rarely a fourth one. Any/all advice much appreciated.
Thomo Posted November 12, 2018 Share Something like this should work: https://www.evobikes.co.za/components/kcnc-seatpost-bottle-cage-clamp.html Better quality cages will help keep bottles in place. That said, sometimes the cheap alu type works just as well since you can bend it for a tighter fit. MrJacques Posted November 12, 2018 Share Topeak also has one. It's a bit cheaper, but it only secures to one point, so maybe not so sturdy.

JohanDiv Posted November 12, 2018 Share Get this: https://bike-addict.co.za/products/ryder-seatpost-clamp-for-water-bottles?variant=45209137033 I use it with an Elite Custom Plus Bottle Cage at the back, and in the triangle a Syncros Matchbox Tailor Cage HV+ that combines the bottle cage with a toolkit and pump. No need for saddle bag then.

Lyne's version of the SWAT kit! That double bottle design looks fantastic and it should solve a lot of problems - I hope the design is robust enough to be able to carry the weight of two full bottles over bumpy roads with only one mounting point.
