hey ladies and gents,

Having done the 94.7 for the first time this year (4:54) i would like to delve a little further into this road thing.

Along with some proper training a few times a week, eating healthy and cutting back on the beer, i would like to do some races in the coming year leading up to the cycle challenge where i'm hoping hard work will pay off.

Which races would you guys recommend? i would like to stick to Gauteng for convenience sake but wont mind driving within reason.

NG Kerk Bloemfontein Noord 15km fun ride.

Hard but epic

Jim Fouche Laerskool prettrap - my first ever "race"

edit: in those days it was sponsored by Interstate Buslines

That is great,

Start with Value Logistic Fast One 2019 27Jan, flat and fast

17Feb - Ride for sight

7 Apr - Wilro 120km (this is a tough race with smallish bunches)

The fitness should picked up quite nicely so maybe challenge yourself with the

Maluti Double 90 just before winter time.

I would say the Amashova is one of the top candidates, especially in preparing for the next 94.7.  The Ofm Classic (or whatever the new name is or if it got revived) was good.

Panorama Tour is an absolute must.

Then the Kremetart should not be forgotten as well.

Cape Town cycle tour should be done at least maybe once but I would rather say rather make it a mission to go and cycle in Cape Town surroundings in general.

Cutting back on the beer.!?

Sorry, you've lost me ...

Forgot to mention that in my reply ...

If you need to cut back on your beer you are doing cycling wrong.  Keep drinking beer and cycle more.

There's plenty local (Jhb & Pta) races

Berge en Dale (23 Feb at Cradlestone Mall)

Emperors Palace Classic (Can't find 2019 date)

Try an Audax or 2 at 200 k's :whistling: - there are a couple in that area. (http://audaxsa.co.za)

Satellite Classic (normally October)

Tshwane Classic (Early November)

Carnival City Macsteel National Classic

Lost City Challenge

Rand Water Race for Victory

Mogale Spring Race

100 Cycle Challeng (5 May 2019)

The races at Stonehaven are quick (and cheap)

The hardest race in GT in my view

Hahaha, I won't stop drinking beer, I'm not crazy.

Awesome there are quite a few to choose from. Seeing as I'll be doing a couple is it worthwhile getting a license? Or should I stick to the day license?

I'll keep an eye on the cycle events for upcoming dates but I'll start off with the Fast one as it's quite close to me

Now you have gone and done it, well at least it is almost Friday.  :whistling:
