Must do Races

hey ladies and gents, 

 

Having done the 94.7 for the first time this year (4:54) i would like to delve a little further into this road thing. 

 

Along with some proper training a few times a week, eating healthy and cutting back on the beer, i would like to do some races in the coming year leading up to the cycle challenge where i'm hoping hard work will pay off. 

 

Which races would you guys recommend? i would like to stick to Gauteng for convenience sake but wont mind driving within reason.

Have a look on http://www.cycleevents.co.za/ . This year I could do a race every month, only travelling for Amashova and Cape Town Cycle Tour. Did a couple of the BSSS sportives at Rooiwal as well, not to hard and about monthly.

Start with Value Logistic Fast One 2019 27Jan, flat and fast

 

17Feb - Ride for sight 

7 Apr - Wilro 120km (this is a tough race with smallish bunches)

 

The fitness should picked up quite nicely so maybe challenge yourself with the 

Maluti Double 90 just before winter time.

60 minutes of Mayhem on a Thursday if you are in P.E. Fun little race where you see how many laps you can complete in an hour.

I would say the Amashova is one of the top candidates, especially in preparing for the next 94.7.  The Ofm Classic (or whatever the new name is or if it got revived) was good.

Panorama Tour is an absolute must.

Then the Kremetart should not be forgotten as well.

 

Cape Town cycle tour should be done at least maybe once but I would rather say rather make it a mission to go and cycle in Cape Town surroundings in general.

If you need to cut back on your beer you are doing cycling wrong.  Keep drinking beer and cycle more.

Hahaha, I won't stop drinking beer, I'm not crazy.

 

Awesome there are quite a few to choose from. Seeing as I'll be doing a couple is it worthwhile getting a license? Or should I stick to the day license?

 

I'll keep an eye on the cycle events for upcoming dates but I'll start off with the Fast one as it's quite close to me

Nah, everybody here loves the CSA and happily gets licences.
