Always interesting this, it's probably happened to all of us at some stage in our journeys. But if said roadie was mugged at the next traffic light and you just rode past he would have been on the Hub cursing your soul to the masses... indeed a strange world we live in. Karma eventually gets the twatwaffles.

That sounds fun until you realize he is a stronger rider than you and you can’t drop them.

If he's a strong rider then why the hell is he messing up his averages behind me??  :-)

Different strokes for different folks. You see it all the time, you get people who are super focused on getting the goal and they are so zoned things around them don't matter until they've achieved what they wanted.

So I had an incident yesterday that reminded me of this thread.

We passed a guy commuting somewhere. He was on the gravel shoulder, riding a beat up Merida MTB, rucksack over one shoulder, plastic bag with stuff in hanging from the one side of the handlebars.

As we passed him (going uphill) I shouted some words of encouragement, more to break the ice and be cheerful than anything else.

He replies that he wont be able to keep up with his "skoro skoro" and we carry on our merry way. about halfway up the climb and we can still hear the dry drivetrain of his bike right behind us.

we crest the hill and head down and he is still there, only after about 800m to 1km later when we hit the next incline did he drop off the back of us.

Sounds a bit like this

came across an elderly gentleman on Saturday - as I approached him and settled into his slipstream - he accelerated, I caught up again (traffic light) and he accelerated again.

I had a chuckle to myself - I had no intention of staying with him as the guys I was riding with weren't intent on going that fast - but they also noticed his behaviour - very funny!

later on a few guys latched onto me and I gladly towed them along. Different strokes...
