Which bike?

I'm struggeling to decide between a 2019 norco charger 2 and a 2018 merida big nine 500.

 

Norco is z 1x11 sram nx while the merida is 2x deore. Both have air forks

 

I mostly ride trails like rosemary hill and the likes with some road riding in the week

 

I can get the merida for 10 500 and the norco for 11700.

 

Which one would you prefer?

A 1x runs out of top end on the road ....

 

But then, I have a Merida as my commuter, so I AM biased.

I like the Norco looks more expensive than it is. Just looking at photos of the 2 bikes next to each other the Norco looks more "ready".

That is definitely the 1 I would go for.

1x for trail riding is just better no chain drops, quiet, less to go wrong and less to think about.

And according to the websites the Norco has Tubeless tyres and the Merida not.

So 1x, Rockshox, Tubeless ready and looks great it would be a Norco win all the way.

I have the older Merida, and been running it tubeless since day one.

 

 

PS - YES, for trails I love my 1x.  But for road riding I still enjoy the faster road gearing of the x2 ...  Guess it comes down to how much of each the OP intends doing ...

It's a no Brainer, I love Merida but in this case the Norco is Better (Similar Frame)

Both are nice. Somehow i seem to like the parts list on the merida more tho.

But the Norco is a year younger.

NORCO..............I ride the optic and converted from 1x11 to 1x12
