Road Tyre Options

Hi All,

So to start at the beginning, I have a set of Campy Eurus 2-way fit wheels. The rims are an extremely tight fit so majority of tyres just don't work on them, especially when it comes time to change punctures on the side of the road - getting them back on the rim is an absolute mission without pinching tubes.

I have been using Pirelli Velo 4s 25c on them for a while now as the bead is looser than most so the fitting is a bit easier. However, lately I keep ripping the tyres on glass and other stuff on the road and this morning was the last straw.

Anybody have any ideas of what other decent options I could use here?

NOTE: Not interested in tubeless or Gatorskins.

Thanks in advance

conti GP4000S2 -fast rolling race tires- good puncture resistance -folders so reasonably easy on (on my various campy and mavic clinchers) - dont break the bank on price - easy to get almost anywhere

im with you on NO tubeless but shame man dont dis the gators lol

Also a fan of GP4000's, never really had a problem getting them on and off any wheels to date, mavics, dark horse, no name carbon TT wheels

I'd go GP5000.  The GP4000 II will also be a good idea.

That said.  I had those Tubeless Eurus wheels.

They SUCK six ways to Sunday when you have to fix a puncture.

I sold them purely based on that horrible experience despite them being amazing wheels.

Last night I battled for 20min to get the new GP5000 tubeless on to the rim. Not sure about the tubed version of the new GP5000 but I would say go with GP4000 II - they are arguably the best all round tubed tyre.

I use Michelin pro 3 or 4 race. Feel very similar to tubbies and easy to get on/off (on my wheels anyway). I also don't like Gatorskins. They feel horrible, almost like having a solid front wheel.

You can usually get then on CRC for R300 - R400.

What is wrong with the Gatorskins?

I have had to many issues with Gators in the past, the sidewalls just tear to easily. They also don't work on these rims.

I am almost at that point, but not sure what to replace them with as they are so good.
