Yes, I am financing a bicycle. No, I don't need your judgement.

Well since the OP doesn’t want to post a pic of his financed bike I’ll post a pic of my financed bike - just because threads need peeekchas.

Do you finance your Meerendal membership too?

I was going to ask you an equally facetious question in response, but I’ve risen above that for now.

If you think that was a “facetious” question, you might need to look up the meaning of that word.

You can use google, or you can buy an Oxford dictionary (they have great payment terms)

I am well aware of the meaning of the word, but looked it up just to confirm.

I stand by my comment.

Was thinking about bicycles this morning and finance. Unless I buy a Tesla, I am unlikely to finance a car again (if I ever have my own one again). However, if your bicycle is your primary source of transport, what is the difference between financing a car or financing a bike?

are you trying to confuse us with "facts" .... on a FRIDAY ??

we all know bikes are toys, and toys may only be bought cash.

My bike/s aren't my primary source of transport. But, my car is paid off and my riding is my primary source of sanity, health and wealth. So if there were a dream bike I'm looking at, I'd consider financing a portion.

Stop being facetious G!

Me, facetious? Of course - life’s too short to be serious [emoji16]

Reminds me of this one:

"Surely, you can't be serious," they said.

“Of course I'm serious," he replied, "And don't call me Shirley."

Jip Nobody flinches if you have dstv. R1000 pm.

If you don't have dstv, way can you not spend that money on something that you can show for it after a year or 3.

I don't think it is a clear cut situation as people are trying to make it.

As long as you are saving for retirement, have a place to stay, food in your belly, and your kids school fees are paid. Why not? You put the work in to earn the money. You know how much time you spend riding. If a nice bike gets you of your arse and looking after your own health, instead of watching sport that has no effect on your life directly, why not?

And like i said before, paying the bank is not a choice. Saving R45k a month over the same period is impossible for most people.
