A pair of runnings or trail shoes is probably the better " investment" if health is the justifiction.

Have you seen the price of trail shoes these days! At 9 months a pair you looking at almost R3500 per year!

That’s fokol.

R3.5k will be your monthly installment on a $$$ bike. Or the annual insurance cost alone.

Never mind the associated maintenance costs of said bike. R3.5k is a GX cassette a year.

Well since the OP doesn’t want to post a pic of his financed bike I’ll post a pic of my financed bike - just because threads need peeekchas.

I thought of financing a bike a few months ago. At the end I bought a older second hand bike cash with the money I would have used for a deposit.

Now I am very happy with the decision I made.

I got a lot of bike for a third of the price of new one.

If I ate it then it would be gone and that would suck.

I stupidly made the mistake of buying a cellphone myself for the first time since 2006 recently. Since then work has always given me a phone. Work still give me a base level iPhone, but I, in a moment of madness, bought a new XR a couple of months ago and stuck my work sim card in.

Every time I use it now, I think how that £800 could have paid for a week of cycling in Majorca instead.

I just did more or less the same thing. Not ever having received not being allowed credit here I realised I needed WiFi calling. Only way to get it is with a contract. Pop into Vodafone expecting fully to be denied an told yes sir we can give you a sim card contract. Pushing my luck I asked could I get a phone too. ( always had my own bought from gift gaff SE iPhone) yes sir what phone would u like.

Long story. In a 40 pound a month hole but at least I now have credit. Another step in the process.

I looked into all that when my 4yr Samsung S6 needed a new battery.... Looked into a contract and then looked on Amazon and picked up a Sony Xperia z something or other for 250. Crap looking... But specs are decent enough for what I need. Kept my sim only contract for 25

Huh?? If you just make calls via whatsapp you are wifi calling ( assuming you're on a wifi)

Yes via WhatsApp it is WiFi.

I live in an area with very poor signal. In order to route calls via my home WiFi needs a contract.

Can’t call emergency services (as an example) via whatsapp. As a contractor I need to be accessible to agencies etc that will not use WhatsApp.

Tried setting up a Skype soft phone at one point. Did not work too well.
