This. Been looking for decent Hi-Tec boots with vibram (damn auto correct) soles and couldn't find any at Cape union Mart or any of the online shops I could think of. Problem solved when I "stole" my other half's brand new spare pair that's been sitting in a box all wrapped up and pretty in the cupboard for years... and they fit!

Great thread.

I take a smaller size usually just off the radar or out of stock so really struggle to find decent boots. I do have a pair of Zamberlains (bought in Oz years ago) but they are for serious stuff and quite heavy. However, I will be able to leave them to someone in my will!

I go through 2 pairs of boots a year on the farm. I've found hiking boots are comfortable, but not that durable. Just ordered a pair of Mt Evans this morning. I hate ordering shoes online where I can't try the shoes on. They had better be comfortable.

I've got a pair of Cats that I bought in 2003, safety boots, they took a while to wear in, but have only just given up the ghost.

Nice boots but a bit broad and box like

For comfort and long lasting these La Sportiva Goretex are 20 years old and fit like a glove

Almost due for a new pair.Worth every cent.

Just make sure you go one size bigger than your running shoes otherwise your toenails wont last on steep and long decents.

3 things I dont skimp on...boots,pack and sleeping bag

I had a pair of these too. They were really good.

Sadly the only La Sportiva boots coming into the country these days are the ugly synthetic types.

I struggled for 2 years to find boots that I liked, but I couldn't find anything.

When we were abroad in Dec I managed to get my hands on a pair of Han Wag Tatra II.

They cost a fair bit of change, but I couldn't be happier.

Just shows how different we all are

I bought a pair of slip on CAT safety boots(their top of the range) in 2014 and the support in the soles are history.

I wear mine every day too. I usually have 2 newish pairs that I wear in rotation. I never wear the same pair of shoes 2 days in a row. They need a day to dry out. And then they'll be polished every day that I wear them.

I've got a pair of 15 year old hitec thermal boots that look almost brand new. The sole is peeling off in the front though. Where can I get them "fixed" properly
