V12man Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Nevermind lung. I'm sure his diaphragm took shots. You can do pretty well with part lung missing. Not so sure about diaphragm tears. Always a weak spot. Even if repaired.They heal fine when repaired- lungs and diaphragm- BUT he will likely lose some lung function that might just keep him from being a top end pro. That said - he is lucky - 2 or 3 inches different and he would have needed a miracle to survive.

They have been tearing it down "next year" for the last 10 years .... May they keep on postponing it .... Think it was in 2017 when one of the riders passed away in the Velodrome during an accident in the turn. Certainly a dangerous sport !

My anecdotal experience with failed diaphragm repairs are rather dramatic. We usually catch them (handful so far) with them bubbly chest sounds about 3years later.
