thats fine...we speak dutch fine when we are 2 bottles in and slurring.

Kaaskoppe

EDIT: they have their own clumsy 'descriptive' clown phrases btw...

ask a dutchy what one is called if you breed cats....

Call someone a 'broodfokker' in SA and they'll be like..

Track cycling is very dangerous, especially when Cavendish is riding.

Any cycling around Cavendish is dangerous and should you not get wiped out you will be disqualified. :whistling:

Nevermind lung. I'm sure his diaphragm took shots. You can do pretty well with part lung missing. Not so sure about diaphragm tears. Always a weak spot. Even if repaired.

They heal fine when repaired- lungs and diaphragm- BUT he will likely lose some lung function that might just keep him from being a top end pro.

That said - he is lucky - 2 or 3 inches different and he would have needed a miracle to survive.

While this is up, where are the Capies going to ride after they tear down the Belville Velodrome next year?

They have been tearing it down "next year" for the last 10 years ....    May they keep on postponing it ....

Think it was in 2017 when one of the riders passed away in the Velodrome during an accident in the turn.  Certainly a dangerous sport !

Born and bred in Sunnyside! Couldn’t speak a word of English until I was forced into an English school at age 7.

Daarsy!

I got to Bloem and couldnt speak Afrikaans. The dutchies here moered that habit out of me within 2 weeks

More of a scripts and scans guy. Good to know. My anecdotal experience with failed diaphragm repairs are rather dramatic. We usually catch them (handful so far) with them bubbly chest sounds about 3years later.

3 years later I can see would turn into a mess quite easily - difficult to repair for sure - long job.

Staying off topic - Bellville Velodrome

This article would suggest it moves out again - https://www.iol.co.za/capeargus/news/wheels-come-off-bellville-velodrome-development-due-to-tender-dispute-18928582

BUT, got some bad news on the radio today - https://www.iol.co.za/capeargus/news/end-of-an-era-for-historic-bellville-velodrome-29080850

Seems it may finally happen ...
