Friedpiggy Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 For those riding tomorrow, please be super careful coming into 45th cutting. The road narrows drastically with concrete barriers on both sides and the road surface there is pretty shoddy as well.

Lost 1 bottle at the bumpy Umlaas road turn so had to manage with 600ml for 80km in the heat ! Was such a mission to get guys to do turns on the front, we had about 5 of us pull a group of 20 odd all the way down the M13 into town. I asked guys to come forward a few times but no one showed, then suddenly with 500m to go everyone was at the front, like really, what are you chasing down the 5 second saving for. Anyway, hope to be back stronger next year.

Frosty Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Also lost (dropped) a bottle, the full one, at Drummond. Stopped at the water point to get a refill and a bottled water before plodding along. Saw one guy laying on the rod, but his head was up, and looked conscious, but in pain. Heard the organizers bussed a load of riders from Bothas Hill to bear the finish because of the heat.
