Matuka Posted August 23, 2019 Share I'm curious if anyone has ever bought any cycling stuff from the Chinese website wish.com. They have some good prices on cycling stuff so I'm sure most/some of it is knockoff but I was wondering if the name branded stuff was legit or also sneaky knockoffs. I've read elsewhere that it is just aliexpress with a different middleman. I've also read that the reason everything is so cheap is that its parent company is based out of San Francisco and is basically into data mining etc. All hearsay really but I'd be interested if anyone had some actual experience. mahleu Posted August 23, 2019 Share Sometimes postage takes forever. Sometimes it just never arrives (they refund without issue). Only bike bit I ordered was a brake post mount adapter for next to nothing. Seemed good enough quality. Matuka
Breezer Posted August 23, 2019 Share I bought ant + cadence and speed sensor, really good silicone grip, road bike handlebar tape and even allu derailleur wheels. I only got good products this far, maybe I am lucky. I even bought a rifle scope and it works perfectly. If you are not in a hurry to receive it, it is not a bad option. Gr3mlin131 Posted August 23, 2019 Share I ordered arm warmers, but only received one (one arm only). But as it was refunded for being late I really did not care. Just be very patient,
Cactus Posted August 23, 2019 Share Not specifically cycling related but I've bought off wish.com before (mainly motorbike stuff) - like the previous post you need to exercise patience - it took nearly four months for the goods to arrive but when they did it was good quality and exactly according to spec. Gr3mlin131 Posted August 23, 2019 Share was it half price off ............................ Was free I think, one of those you only pay shipping type deals. But even that got refunded. Buying on wish has been like buying myself surprise presents. Will I get it and when, who knows Matuka and Hairy
BuffsVintageBikes Posted August 23, 2019 Share I've bought from them as well. My only advice is to make sure you order everything from the same supplier otherwise they ship everything individually. So far I've been to the PO 5 times and each time you pay R28 for your parcel. Not much fun when the parcel is a single bell or mirror Matuka, Vetplant and Hairy
Wannabe Posted August 23, 2019 Share I received my integrated road bars two days ago, after placing the order on 26 June. Still waiting for the Garmin holder to arrive. Quality of bar is really good, carbon weave is even, decals on bars is painted on and clear coated. Will be fitting it this weekend and then only will I be able to form an opinion about the sturdiness / amount of flex. Just like it is, there is minimal flex when pushing the bar drops towards each other, but that is not a natural thing to do whilst cycling. I'm going to give it a go and see. I am in no rush. There are some nice jerseys/bibs and helmets so might try my luck. Thanks! Wannabe

BuffsVintageBikes Posted August 23, 2019 Share Nope, I never got asked for anything else but all my goods were really small stuff as I was testing it out as well. I bought around 8 items to the value of R1000. The first stuff arrived within 3 weeks but some of the other stuff hasn't made it here yet, 3 months later. Dirkitech Posted August 26, 2019 Share Thats good advice. Do they ask you to pay customs duty or anything like that?Normal customs apply. THe R28 is a PO clearance fee as I had to pay the same thing for special cable tie thingys. These are 0% duty items. If you buy clothes and stuff, I expect the 40% duty rate to apply. Schnavel Posted August 26, 2019 Share I have purchased from Wish multiple times - a bit of hit and miss unfortunately and normally take a while to arrive via snail mail. Some items arrive on time, and are as per the item ordered, others either don't arrive or are the wrong item (never appears to be an issue though, as you get refunded). *Edit: Stay away from clothing (I have never purchased clothing items, but everyone I know who has won't do it again) as the quality is usually really poor and the sizing is horrific.
