Mamil Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Sometimes I am but sometimes not. I sense the sny(i)de tone of your comment though. Actually I did an English lit major back in the day. I did yes, you must be very smart.

Mamil Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Another google jockey -- Here's another literary reference for you - take a flying #@#@ at a rolling doughnut, take a flying #@#$ at the moon. Look it up and correct the spelling. By or with..sunshine..
IceCreamMan Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 The level of detail people will go into to “just be right”. Winning a spelling bee does not make somebody more or less prejudiced. Actually, I think you are incorrect there. Winning (or losing)a spelling bee could well be linked to the inclination to being prejudiced.
Mamil Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 How so? Actually, I think you are incorrect there. Winning (or losing)a spelling bee could well be linked to the inclination to being prejudiced.
NickGM Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Actually, I think you are incorrect there. Winning (or losing)a spelling bee could well be linked to the inclination to being prejudiced. It's only prejudiced if it's a BEE spelling bee. Sorry. I'll take my coat and hat.
IceCreamMan Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 How so? Intelligence and inclination to being prejudiced are linked.
Mamil Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 A quick google shows that you are right! Intelligence and inclination to being prejudiced are linked.
IceCreamMan Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 A quick google shows that you are right! However spelling ability and intelligence are not particularly well correlated - there being too many intervening variables, such as education level and other factors like dyslexia, ADHD and more … depends on the group being tested. Some data showed remarkable correlation. And of course, nothing concerning Intelligence is absolute. There are always numerous exceptions. Rumour has it Einstein was a lousy speller as an example.
forkie Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Lack of Intelligence and inclination to being prejudiced are linked.fixed

Dirkitech Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 One of my "African" students summed up these types of topics perfectly in a few words. European Skin colour people in South Africa ( Probably other places to) are always seen as:Competent until proven IncompetentInnocent until proven Guilty Where as darker skin colour people Incompetent until proven Competent Guilty until proven Innocent. Myself have been guilty of this and have really put in an conscience effort to eradicate this in my life.Human brain is a fascinating piece of genius and capable of subconsciously storing information that eventually influence your action without you realising it.So what do you call white, indian and coloured people born on the african continent?
