Its a suburb in Joburg South too. They too speak French deeeep into a Friday night.

France is one of those countries I'd love to take a drive cycle around for a month. Wine, cheese, baguettes, an alp, a chateau... heaven.

How about a nice "Classics" stage with some Strongmen getting away in the wind...?

GC guys not able to follow...they then have their own fun a bit later in the stage.

S Kung and M Schar up the road, already 31s lead.

This reminds me of the day that Tony Martin decided to go on a break.

The Tour went through a town we have a little pile in a few years back and I missed it due to work. I promised myself that would never happen again. It goes through the town again on Thursday after starting in Chauvigny, but Covid stepped up this time.

They are going to let them dangle there, aren't they

Yep, giving them too much of a lead will just give them the victory. The bunch won't be able to make up the "normal" 1min per 10km on these Diesel Engines in the run-in, so can't afford them too much freedom.

2mins is far enough for nobody else to cross the gap, but also close enough to bring back in the final.

It's not really up to them. The rules around pulling teams from the race and number of positives comes from the French government, not the race organiser.

i can smell the backhanders from here,

Bit south of you but find that pretty much every 2 years there's a stage within an hour of home to go to.

The two upfront should really dial down the intensity a little bit over the next 30 odd kilometers.

The bunch doesn't want to catch you, save those matches to try to stay away in the run-in...

For those wondering when to tune in:

Winds are expected to increase towards the end of the day.

At 20km to go, the riders have a change of direction, at which point the wind direction will be ideally placed to create chaos.

It is not to say it won't happen earlier, but definitely don't miss the final 30km...

They are already averaging 49km/h.
