CScriba Posted October 28, 2019 Share Looks awesome ... any chance of spraying the stem to match the top tube? Thanks! It was actually just a stand in stem for the moment, i have a Farr Aero stem on there now which is nice and clean...now that you mention it though, perhaps i should give stem painting a go, i will test it out on an old stem and see how it goes first! ChristiaanSt Posted October 29, 2019 Share what kind of paint stripper are you using? and have you thought of rather taking the frame to get Hydro blasted instead?
CScriba Posted October 29, 2019 Share what kind of paint stripper are you using? and have you thought of rather taking the frame to get Hydro blasted instead?I just used a standard paint stripper, from Luxor Paints in this case. If i do this again any time, i might consider some sort of blasting - media, or hydro etc. Not sure which would be best for Alu frames. It would have so be soft enough not to damage the aluminium in any way. But in terms of Do it your-selfing at home, paint stripper is probably the most accessible method.

Wannabe Posted October 30, 2019 Share This will be my next go to! Have you tried it with bicycle paints? Not that im planning any more re-paints for the foreseeable future...but you never know! I have, and it works a treat, especially the difficult parts where the tubes comes together and around the welds. I only had to wipe the paint residue off, no sanding or scraping required.
