Dropper Post 27.2 options

Hey Q, D, local bike shop is getting a Giant dropper in, no set back. Will try this for ****s and giggles next week and see what measurements say. Not really keen on a new saddle but maybe as you say its an option [longer rails]  

I am not aware of Giant making a 27.2?

Yes they do but it doesn't appear to be as robust as the Lyne unit hence I never mentioned it. Its slightly more expensive than the Lyne too

Hi guys, they def do, they always out of stock, but i saw one for myself a few months back when i started looking at options. Its actually not half bad to be honest, i think its also R2 500 with 120mm travel. Dont know the exact model name though sorry. LBS getting stock by this Friday, can try sneak a few pics for you.

On 2019 and 2020 my Anthems and I recall seeing one at the Rheebokskloof XCO. I can't remember whose bike it was.

Sunday update.

Taken the plunge and ordered the Lyn 110mm dropper. I think set up will be fine as my seat currently is all the way back. Will report back on test rides. Looking forward to getting the saddle out of the way on technicals and rough downhills. It's just safer.

Hi guys, finally an update.

 

The service from Lyne has been amazing. From the get go everything on there website works, tracking, tracing, packaging is exeptional. 

 

As for the 27.2 dropper with no set back, my set up now is 15mm closer, more forward, than it was, and to be honest, maybe a better set up as i feel i am putting more power straight down. The quality of the dropper, the 110mm of drop, the remote over bar lever, all top quality.

 

So how is the ride, o wow! I cant believe how much safer and easier it is on technical, downhills, trails and so on. You have so much more space to move around now that the seat is out of the way completely. Yes, it has added over 500g to my total weight but for what i am getting in return its a no brainer.

I also have a Superspeed and ordered a Lyne dropper. I am struggling with the internal routing. Cable gets stuck at the bottom of the frame by the bb. How did you get your cable up the seat tube?

You may have to remove the Crank to give the cable a nudge into the down tube. I would route it down the seat tube first then up the down tube.

Thanks. Normally I don’t have the horse power to get it loose. So much for girl power ????

 

BUT...

 

Managed a bodge. Got the outer cable down to the bb. Then threaded inner cable through. Caught the inner via seat tube with a spoke attached to a short piece of outer for extra length. And voila.

That will work but over time you will have water and dirt gunk up that part where the two pieces of housing come together causing the cable to bind up.

Hey Rox, LBS installed my dropper when i had my super speed [sold it a while back], but i never had a days problem, very good value, lightweight in my opinion for what you pay, worked a treat.

I have decided I am perhaps too old school for droppers 

 

I learnt to descend on the sides of minedumps and 5 degree drop-ins with a rigid post (back when eagle canyon was still a canyon) so when I have fitted droppers I don't tend to use them - at least not until I want to fit the bike back on the towbar rack.

 

What I have found super useful though is the Specialised CG-R elastomer post (only available in 27.2 as far as I can tell). worth thinking about perhaps.

I think you missed understood her. She's got the whole continuous outer housing through. She just extended the spoke with a bit of outer housing so she could catch the inner cable guide it to the top and then push the remaining outer around the DT/ST Junction.
