Good day all

Buying a Crest wheel setup with XT hubs - thru axel. (on my new ride).

Can one be converted to a quick release and who can help with the process?

Cheers

Quite easy. You can buy QR adapters that works like a thru-axle

Are you sure you want to buy Crests? Use the search function and it may help you make a decision?

My guess is - he's getting it second hand. Cause they're normally paired with HOPE hubs as far as I know.

I would rather opt for the wider and stiffer ARCH MK2's - As those have a weight limit of 136KG vs the 86KG of CREST

I am not sure if Shimano hubs are convertible between through axle and QR - I stand to be corrected though.

One other thing to check is the axle spacing - Boost or non-Boost

They are on my "new" second hand bike. My old bike that I am selling have American Classic set on that I am keeping.

Problem is the new  back wheel is thru axel and my old bike the quick release.

On the dot. Coming on my new bike. Agree to rather opt for the Arch.

Thanks. I will maybe sell the crest as is and only convert my American Classic to thru axel.

Non boost wheels

AFAIK shimano hubs aren't convertable. I may be wrong, but I don't think you'll be able to adapt them down. If it's TA at the back then you'll also be looking at 142mm wide axle vs the 135mm on the QR side, so there's gonna be some squashing somewhere.

I wouldn't do it.

If you're lucky. Sometimes they come with Stans hubs don't they? Aren't American Classic out of business?
