Touring bike recommendations and suggestions

Sequoia is a land cruiser, Diverge is a Hilux.

I reckon wrap the Diverge in vynil (DIY or fancy kit) and go riding with it. You will be doing less full on touring style rides than you think.

I'd say the Diverge is more a Fortuner...common and less practical than a Hilux...but it climbs pavements well ;-)

Yep, hence the questions. Always nice to get other peoples views.

As I said before, everyone has to make compromises somewhere. I am banned from N+1 for a while.

I need to keep my man card for other more important plays.

That is a sexy piece of kit!

I had the same cassette in Kyrgyzstan when we went and I used a 34 Oval up front as I was confident that I could ride most routes with that. Big mistake. Factor in altitude and not so much. The 30 is a great idea and if you could get a 50 on the back it would be even better. :w00t:

11-50 cassette delivered this morning.

30t Oval on its way.

What 4 season tent do you guys use ?

I mean a decent waterproof/storm proof one.

It's not a 4 seasons, but then we're in SA..

I'm 1.85m so some of the ultralight tents are a little cramped, but this one works very well, especially at only 1.7kg.

Naturehike cloud up, it is almost an exact copy of one the lightweight MSR tents but half the price. Mine has done 3 weeks 4x4 camping in Botswana, multiple overnight hikes and one bikepacking trip, still looks new (very lightweight with delicate fabric but so far so good). Fits 2 of us medium sized ladies fine, not much spare space for wine though.post-19421-0-95592100-1611345866_thumb.jpg

I have an Alpkit Soloist but it’s a 3 season tent. Nice and lightweight.

We've got the same tent and have used it in snow, torrential rain and high altitudes and we survived. Brilliant for the price and easily available in SA

Absolute Black 30t Oval delivered this a.m.

Bike now ready, just have to decide how much singlespeed riding I want to do over the next 4/5 months before conversion to a 1x11.
