I have had some bad wear on GX eagle chains. Was worn to .75 within 2500km. When I replaced the chain with a new gx eagle chain, it was slipping on the bottom 3 cogs (new chain and worn cassette combo). But I have not experienced a failure like your chain.

What is your FTP?

I wish it was due to excessive power, but alas. FTP a tad over 300. I’m just an average rider. The chain issue cannot be a power thing

This leads me to think there might be something up with your cassette or chainring. Never seen a chain develop cracks like this and I have been riding SRAM stuff for over two decades. But to be fair, I have never ridden GX Eagle.

Just to add, I also moved over to xx1 chains, mileage possible on the GX eagle chains were just not worth it.

I also had a bad experience with a Sram Red 11 speed chain on my road bike. Was shot after 4000km. Usually I get +- 10 k km on the KMC X11.

Agreed. Not a common failure. Check you cassette and front chainring for any bent teeth.

I’m reading more and more about the same issue happening with SRAM GX chains elsewhere.  Also, first example of a guy who snapped his chain on 2 places simultaneously.

something is seriously wrong with this product…

This is why I am wondering if this is possibly fake products.

It would be a sad day if SRAM dropped their standards like this, and they surely did not break like this previously.

Not on this bike but I have many other chains in the household. Will try XX1 now

Is KMC an option ?
