Had to use the car this morning after a month of commuting - to the detriment of my health I have missed nothing driving to work not even the comfort of the heater & music. I decided to pay strict attention to how motorists behave or if anything has changed in the month of my absence - NOTHING - there is NO HONOUR/RESPECT & INTEGRITY among motorists - speeding / taking chances & filling every available gap to get ahead & we all still meet at the traffic lights.

I felt unsafe in my car - yes this is old news but for some reason I feel more confident on my bike than I did in my car this morning - Still I cannot understand what the rush is / why the disrespect & lack of consideration. As long as "I'm ahead of U" mentality it's all good. Cry

Really I felt it's not such a bad idea the other day when cops opened fire on each other & motorists behave as they do that it's time to get out !!!

Disagree if U like but hey what the hell !!!

DT it is all about RESPECT ... our fellow motorists just lost respect for each other; yet it is always the TAXI's that is too blame for this behaviour? .... Motorists must realise they only have ONE life ... take chances as many as you would like until your chance count runs out!!!

Human beings have lost patiences and everything is around RUSHING. Practise what you preach and lead by EXAMPLE ... message to the IMPATIENT motorists!

If you think we are bad,  try driving in Nigeria.

Went over on a work contract and came away with a new perspective on driving. I think even some of our taxi drivers would be scared.

I hate driving my car. I wish the west rand were flat so that I could use my bike for everything. I just think driving a car is a waste of time. You just sit and get a big arse.

In general Gauteng motorists are actually very courteous compared to Durban and Cape Town drivers. It was the first thing we noticed when we moved from Durban to Joburg eight years ago. Sometimes they're even too courteous, going out of their way to let you in and affecting the natural traffic flow.

I appreciate Gauteng motorists every day. Honestly. Having said that, I now work from home so don't have to deal with as much traffic as most...

When we lived in SA I used to commute from Boksburg to Lanseria everyday, recently (February) I had the opportunity to travel the same route a couple of times... I can vouch for the fact that the behavior of motorists has deteriorated somewhat. Just seeing how some people  drive on the highway is scary, the only common thing is the direction in which they drive and I bet that sometimes even that is not the same?

Combined with the increase in traffic along this route I definitely would not put myself through that kind of torture again.

One thing I will say - some motorists are courteous when I'm commuting / they allow me right of way & generally respect my hand signals etc. Cannot say the same for others tho' -

Then there is the case of PEDESTRIANS - man I almost flattened a cow yesterday - she's on her cell looking at me coming on & standing in the road yapping - I swore I will not swerve 'cos then I get bumped - I shouted at her to get out of the way & off the road .. another bunch of idiots among us !!
