Traveling with MTB's to Vaalwater, Limpopo

Morning all

 

We are 3 families going to Vaalwater, Limpopo for the weekend and want to take our mtb's with.

 

Any advice on the risk involved traveling across border with bikes or has anyone done this and can advise on the safest options/routes.

My 2c.... don't do it. But then again, there are plenty of people here on both sides of the fence when it comes to adhering to lockdown restrictions. Maybe someone who doesn't care about the restrictions and wants to prove something will chime in and advise on how to break the law.

As far as I know it is illegal.

However,we are travelling backwards and forwards to Medupi with permits on that road.

My friends in Botswana believe that because it is lockdown in the greater Gaborone they have all upped and buggered off to the CKGR,Okavango,Savuti,Chobe etc on a holiday.No worries there about essential services permits it seems

Coming back from KZN we saw hordes of GP cars with bikes loaded headingto KZN.. can't speak about how things are being done going to Limpopo, there was one roadblack in the N3 and they weren't stopping any cars..all I saw was the cop cars and roadblock set up but no cops in sight. Strictly its illegal according to the law. You aren't even allowed to travel inter provincial without a permit so even travelling for leisure across provincial boundaries is banned, let alone for leisure with MTB's.

 

However if you had a permit you could say you were working and also were allowed to exercise.

 

I think there will be massive roadblocks this weekend to prove a point and that you potentially could face issues with the
