Good morning Hubbers,

Is it possible to patch a road clincher tyre from the inside? I have an expensive tyre that still has plenty life left so I don't want to discard it.

This is that I did.

Because road tyres are run at high pressure, I was concerned that the pressure would force a standard patch through the hole.

I cut an oval piece of 2l Coke bottle (Fanta will also work) glued it into place with contact adhesive.

Then installed and inflated.

Got full use of the tyre for its normal lifespan.

I can highly recommend a latex strip. Automotive shops stock them. Cut a patch, glue with pressure and boom!

Another way of doing it would be to cut a piece of an old tire (side wall) and use that. Same method.

The threads in the rubber will stop any ballooning
