Help with cadence on exercise bike

Good day all

So my wife and I have been cycling on a tandem since last year. We can only cycle on Saturdays or Sundays, so only 4 times a month. We do 60kms on saturday rides with the club and 100kms plus on Sundays. We do 1 Sunday ride a month.

So we are not getting enough riding time, we are in the back of the slow group doing 19 - 22kmh ave.

So I got us a second hand trojan spin bike. My question to you guys, what cadence sensor can I install on the spin bike?

My wife and I both have garmin watches. But I would have to re-assign the cadence sensor to the particular watch each time.

That doesn't take that long, does it?

Are there cheap non gps bike computers that have cadence sensors?

Either one of these would work nicely for your setup:

On the Garmin Watch you should just add it the first time, after that the watch will see it automatically whenever you start a workout. It broadcasts, which means that more than one device can see the Cadence reading at the same time, so you will even be able to transfer the device to your tandem on your weekend rides and both your watches will show you guys the cadence readings.

Personally, go for a ANT+ Cadence Sensor and utilise your Garmin Watch to track it. Really worth it.

Some feedback in Bold above.

In the mean time just count revs you do in 15 sec and x 4.Eventually you know pretty accurately what your cadence is.

The cadence sensor can be paired with MORE than one watch/bike computer.

When your watch is on cycling mode, it will pick up the cadence sensor and do its bit .... Once she starts her cycling app on her watch it will pick up the cadence sensor.

the cadence sensor on my bike is picked up by both my computer and the computer on my son's bike ... darned if I can unpair it from the 130 ...  And it works perfectly when only one of the computers is on.  Garmin sensor, and Garmin computers.

As to your actual question .... not sure which other cadence sensors will pair with your watches.  Certainly will be looking to see the responses, as I am considering buying a hart rate monitor and cadence sensor for Maritz's bike ....

Hold the button on the right side, then scroll down to the menu

You will find sensors in there, scroll to the cadence sensor and remove it from there.

Whish I knew this last year during CTCT. My 130 did not pick up my HR strap or my Cadence sensor and I did not know how to fix this whilst riding. I was about 10km in when I noticed it and was not about to lose that 10km of my ride.

But it happened once or twice after that whilst out training and being a training ride I had more time to fiddle and find the setting to re-connect.
