Havent bought anything enjoyed this Forum too much

But seems like its the trek i let shop know this afternoon.

I am also 1,83 tall so i fall inbetweem 56 and 58 has the 56 it fits great but need longer seatpost to make it perfect. Which can be done.

My Emonda is a 58 but obviously not as aggressive.

Spoke to mutiple bike fitters saying if you oj the edge go smaller size.

Any opinions on that?

Like i said to make 56 perfect need longer seatpost

54cm and a 140m stem.

Be a bit wary of undersizing on the Madone - their LONG seat mast is not very long.

The bike fitters can't have an opinion on which size you need until they have have an idea of your body dimensions. At the very least they should measure your inseam and see if the long seat mast will go high enough (fortunately Trek post their max seat heights: https://www.trekbikes.com/gb/en_GB/bikes/road-bikes/performance-road-bikes/madone/madone-sl/madone-sl-6/p/28714/?colorCode=grey_black).

Even then without knowing your torso/leg ratio they can't say whether you should go bigger or smaller....

Side note: stack and reach on the 56cm Emonda and Madone are exactly the same.

The 56 might be quite aggressive and the saddle to bar drop is going to give you some lower back pain... and you may need quite a few spacers.

Well all depends how flexible you are.

all my road bikes. each and everyone of them has been a size 52/small.

i got sized on the latest spez venge and was a 52.

in the trek i am certainly a medium or 54 and still have a few spacers under my bars.

i actually find the fit of the 54/medium rather compact.

use it don't use it

i'm 1.7m tall - obviously there are more measurement you should look at.

but i would never have gone for the 52 madone. its tiny.

This brings on a fun rant...

Using the seat tube length (unless it is a virtual seat post length and even then) is meaningless.

As an example a Large Giant TCR and a 56cm Trek Madone have the same length seat tube.

The Large TCR recommends riders 183-193cm and the recommendation for the 56cm Madone is 174-180cm.

The only 2 measurements and 1 condition that matter on a frame are:

2 measurements: Stack and Reach

1 Condition: You can get the seat post low/high enough

The days of "I'm a 54" died when Giant introduced the sloping top tube.

The point of the rant? Trek has quite a "traditional" seat tube measurement - you will almost always take a "bigger" Trek than other (sloping) frames.

Ummm we looking at Aero bikes here, the bigger the bar drop the better. Gotta go all in here.

While I'm on a ranting roll.....get a bike fit.

The amount of inverted stems, zero offset/25mm offset seat posts, slammed headsets/over spaced headsets, heath robinsons, general silliness I've had to perform over the 1,000 fits just to fix a problem one single bike fit would have avoided is unbelievable.

Do ONE bike fit and you will never have to ask for advice on bike sizing ever again.

Kinda makes sense - a higher and shorter Revolt is better for Gravel/Comfort.

Blows my mind - R80,000 for a bike is reasonable but R2,500 for 1 fit that will make you faster, less injury prone, more comfortable , more powerful and will last you quite a few years is too expensive.

That said - the bike fit market in SA is not very well developed/known.
