I suppose that I was hoping that the MK4's would be a bit more robust as I was considering them for a gravel bike build with some Hope RS4 hubs. They are no longer on my radar How much heavier is the arch ? I assume it'll handle you just fine.

They are no longer on my radar There are quite a few rims I'd rather put on a gravel bike, if Crests aren't your cup of tea. For one thing, many gravel bikes are more road focused, and you may want to use the 24h hubs that come with them. In this case, opt for the DT Swiss GR531 - heavier than the Crests but rock solid.
Rapunzel Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 Has anybody been riding the Crest mk4's long enough to comment on rigidity and durability? My 11 month old rear mk3 is like spaghetti with 9 cracked nipples and need to decide if I should pay in for warranty replacement and upgrade (but will either have to replace front at full price or ride mis-matched wheels).
Stephan Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 It's almost been a year on from the launch of the new rims. Has anyone got some experience to say whether these new generations rims are better than the previous generation? Have they fixed the cracked nipple issue?
Bondinator Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I've been running the MK4 crests for about 6 months and they seem to be holding up at the moment. All the sets of MK3 crest rims that I had started to crack on the rear by now.
EVOBIKES ONLINE STORE Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 No problems or warranties reported so far from our customers...

Not a single instance of a crack at the spoke holes, that I'm aware of, since the Mk4 range was launched. Safe to say they've solved the problem. Also, from my perspective, they're one of the only brands who have a healthy rim stock-holding in SA in all 3 versions (Crest, Arch & Flow) in 28 and 32h versions. I'm busy with an article now explaining their rim range with specs, weights and recommended use cases. Seriously one of the best alloy rim options on the market right now. I'll post a link to the article here once I'm done writing it later today. Jako De Wet, El Duderino, Underachiever and 4 others 7

splat Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Nicely done. Those builds look great! (Check your width on the Crest rims) 23 minutes ago, nick_the_wheelbuilder said: Here's the link to that article: https://wheelbuilder.co.za/mk4-rims/ Underachiever 1

26er Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 The wheel is at the bike shop, I might be able to the pics from them. They are thin cracks next to the nipples…
