Will a MTB front derailleur work on a Gravel Bike? I do have a 105 road bike groupset on the gravel bike. My issue though is that the front derailleur shifting arm is a bit to long and rubs against the tyre.

I saw some MTB derailleurs that does have a shorter shifting arm, hence the question of compatibility.

Officially the answer is no because of different pull ratios. But you can make probably get a 2x system working by playing with the limit screws.

as said on bikegremlin, it's worth a try.

I am running a 105 lever with a 3x MTB front derailleur, it works well, every now and then it will "overshift" going to the big ring and the chain comes off, but for the most part it works well enough

As a matter of interest are you using a road or MTB crank? I only ask because I have MTB front derailleurs on both my gravel bikes but I'm running MTB 2x cranks and have no problems with STI shifters

I tried to get an MTB derailleur to work on a road bike a while back, the issue was the chain ring sizes are too big on the road bike. I think all road front derailleurs are pretty similar, try looking for one that has a better geometry.

Road. Crankset is FSA. Will have to visit some shops to see their selection of FD...bit difficult to judge via pictures if I need to source a new one.
