I'll add the Titan Racing bag in here as well, somehow forgot about it yesterday. Looks like solid quality, although I don't have first hand feedback on long term durability. Half the price of the EVOC one and AFAIK locally made.

I'll add a vote for Evoc - I used the Pro to fly to and from Iceland without a single issue, and the packing process is also really simple and logical.

The new version of the EVOC is nice, then one with the detachable front wheel...$ tho!image.png.a5351253cfd213e693cdd31f62e9c05c.png

I was pleasantly surprised with the Scicon 3.0 when I used it for the first time, for this year's Amashova.
Already supported thru-axle, and nice and easy to pack. The handlebars did get turned down a bit on the return trip, but I guess any of these soft bags still have some risk.

I just can't see a way to attach the derailleur protector when using thru-axles.

Pro tip: even if there is space, detach rear derailleur at hanger and tape up between chain stays...easy enough to re-assemble and saves lotsa heartache and $$'s

Yeah, that's the one I have - I got it on special for a pretty decent price but it still wasn't cheap.

Good day all.

I am leaving SA soon and plan on taking my bike. I have previously flown nationally with a regular  box from the bike shop but I would like to get a bike bag now. I have a size L titan racing RS ultimate. I am looking at the evoc bags (on the hub) or a titan racing bag which I kind of am leaning to since I already support the brand. does anyone have experience with these bags in a side by side comparison? I obviously would prefer a lighter one so as to pack helmets and shoes and what have you's in. I also am unsure which ones are a tighter fit or won't work for a mtb. Maybe @Titan Racing Bikes can weigh in on your bag's?

I have never flown International with a bike, are there any additional costs or can I simply check it in as one of my bags?

Any info/recommendations will be appreciated.

We can't give an opinion on the Evoc bag as we've never had it side by side with ours. But from experience, a L Cypher will fit in with no issues and you'll have space for extras.

You can check it in as a bag, but due to the size, you'll have to drop it off at the oversize cargo window once checked in.

Thanks a lot. How much do your bags weigh?

You need to check with your airline about costs...I have been flying Qatar Air for the last 15 years...never paid once for a bike bag as long as it fits inside their general luggage and sports bags limits stated on their site.

@capediver do you specify when booking your ticket that you have bike or not?

Nope....one thing you need to also check is if Qatar is your final destination, you all good, but if you connecting with another airline, you need to check them as well.

When you check in, they will ask if you have removed pedals and have no CO2 canisters inside...and will make you sign on the bag tag to indemnify them from damage.

Then you'll have to lug it off to oversized desk/loading dock where they will X-ray the bag and give you a thumbs up if it all checks out.
