My right shifter stopped working. I was advised by my LBS that it needs to be replaced but Shimano only sells the two shifters as a pair.
So I am looking for a replacement ultegra R8020 right shifter in a good condition or if there is any way that it can be fixed.

Valid excuse to upgrade to new 12 speed Ultegra. DI2...

but

Guess it will still take a while before we will be able to buy it locally here in our third world country and might be more expensive than Dura Ace 9100 currently

My left Ultegra shifter also stopped working recently.
I was told that I had to buy a pair, but luckily the warranty kicked in.
Another stroke of luck, is that they actually had stock of that one, but not the right (which has been logged for replacement when stock eventually arrives).

stopped shifting ?

Get in there with some Q20/WD40, give it a thorough soaking to clear out all the gunk.

Has happened to me with older Shimano shifters.

Search the web there are a few youtube vids on it

Exactly this - I have saved a few shifters this way.

Sometimes the lubricant gets a little sticky and the ratchet stops working. Turn it upside down, give it a good squirt then pray...

I've had an issue where the head of the shift cable jams inside the housing on the 105 version of this shifter.

Take shifter off bike, remove rubber hood, unscrew inspection cover thing, get cable unstuck and remove cable. Bingo it works again. Shift down to smallest gear to get the cable back in and try not to get it stuck this time.

Similar thing happened to me on 105's...shifter just stopped working after getting it to change up to biggest gear...flipped hood back, removed plastic cover from bottom, checked outside side and yip, the cable stopper was out of its stopper bracket and was jammed up in the top of the mechanism...went to the inside, used a fine rod to push the stopper back to the outside and re-seated stopper into its bracket...on further investigation, I found the cable was actually mangled at a corner en route to the rear derailleur so it was not moving smoothly inside the housing after selecting gears resulting in the cable stopper jumping out of its bracket...replaced with new cable....

A few months back at the start of my ride the rear was not changing as accurately as it used to, by mid ride I was struggling to change and about 2km from home I could not change at all.

Thought it was the normal sticky shifter. Put bike on stand and did the usual cleaning out of gunk etc. but still I could not change gear.

Started peeling back hoods and removing covers only to fund a frayed piece of cable sitting there.

Cable snapped for some reason.
