Hi all

After having endless problems with Magura Carbotecture levers either leaking or breaking 🙄... I decided to give the Shigura's a try. I did some research on this setup, and the feedback was favorable.

So I a paired my Magura MT8 calipers with Shimano Deore M6100 levers.

I took it out for a test ride over the weekend, and it felt amazing! All the power from the Magura calipers, combined with the great modulation from the Shimano levers. The best of both worlds. I would definitely recommend going this route if you are having issues with your Magura levers.

Comment down below if you have a similar setup, and what your experience has been like.

I have Shigura's on both my gravel bike and my tandem - Magura calipers paired with Ultegra road levers. They are absolutely fantastic and they've run probably 2000km so far. Magura makes a tandem length brake hose for added happiness. I'm running Magura e-bike level 203mm disks on the tandem and SRAM 160mm centreline's on the gravel bike.

Big plus's are no rubbing due to Magura's magnetic brake pad attachment (keeps the pads vertical rather than Shimnao's angled spring solution), and 0.2mm greater clearance on the disk. Lots of power and no complications so far.

Recently I bought a cheapo DH bike. It used to be a mates bike. I bought it from him in 2019, took it to France and then sold it on my return. It's an Intense M9 in the old CRC metalic blue.

Anyway I recently bought the bike "back" for a frankly silly R6500. The brakes were horrible so they were immediately replaced with 2nd hand Magura MT05's.

Those were ok but not stellar. Then the mate who sold the Magura's to me told me about this Shigura hack. I love the super light feel of a Shimano lever so this felt like a bit of an idea. I procured a set of SLX levers from Woodstock Cycle Works and they mated the shimano levers to the magura calipers.

I did a hellsend shuttle day with the new setup last week and the brakes feel AMAZING!

Nils reckons the shimano lever pushes more fluid than the Magura one hence the immense power. IMO this is a highly recommended hack if you've got maguras and you want a little more power.
