Hi guys, I know this ride took place this weekend as I was supposed to ride, but fell and cracked a rib last Saturday 😔.  Just wondering what guys thought of it who did ride?

What an experience! Hardest day on a bicycle for me.

Riding through singletrack in the pitch dark with only your light was amazing. Route was amazing. But for an ultra endurance race, the route is brutal. Almost no “free km’s”.  Our official time was just over 15 hours. Just made it to the beach during the last minutes of sunlight.

hats off to the guys who had to do the last part in the dark, as the flooding created many ruts and deep landslides. Very dangerous during the night.

was cold during part 1, somewhere reached -6 degrees C. Vibe was awesome.

support vehicle played a crucial part in finishing this race.

Brutal day out on the bike!

Ja... looked a lot tougher than perhaps it needed to be!

The weather was great. Umkomaas drop was amazing. Would not be possible to finish without a great backup driver.

For now, I never want to see a bicycle again.

I was going to offer you my bicycle.

It was a lekker event though, but echoing your comments I underestimated the effect that the +/-80kms of single track would have on the body.

The last 15kms seemed unnecessary at the time, but time erodes bad memories and I will be back next year.

Haha well said. Agreed, my body wanted none of that last singletrack and muddy puddles… Had a sense of humor fail there.

My body shot though. But looking at the photos, I am already forgetting the hard parts and looking forward to a possible 2023 entry😂

As hard as the race was, it was possibly the best experience i have had in a long time on the bike. Even though you ride a similar course to the Sani2C the it somehow feels different to it. The worst part for me was the 1st hour in the cold and the last 200m to the finish in the sand, maybe some pallets over the sand would be better.

I found the cold manageable. The sand walk, not so much.

I think that finishing in the dark would have made me emotional, Can't imagine putting a light back on and having to dress back up for the cold after the long day out.

This. We raced the last 8km to make it to the finish before dark. Just made it.

Hats off to the teams who had to ride that last part in the dark.
