THE QUESTION IS: What was use to adjust the winning time from 2H19 to 1H29?
[/Quote]

Popeye, they didn't adjust the winning time - they incorrectly categorised the start time of that oke into the long route because he was obviously one of the 200 whose start group was lost.

Rebel, Looks like they took your advice! Wink

If I'm not mistaken it's been sorted out as the seeding for D'ville looks about right.

So' date=' at last they saw the light again.

It had nothing to do with the Box, 200 cyclists or whatever.

Go checkyour new seeding and the new "adjusted" winning time.

That was the issue

I rest my case

They are useless !!!!

Popeye, It had everything to do with the box. Read smallrebels's posts and it explains everything. The adjusted winning time is derived from the winning time. If the winning time is wrong then the adjusted winning time will also be wrong. The winning time WAS wrong because they had some dude with the wrong start time.

finish time - start time = race time;

fastest race time = winning time

OK, just some more info here....WT does the timing, all they do is record the start and finish times of the cyclists.  If you start in group M of the long ride and turn off and do the short ride (which will happen EVERY time the long and short routes have a partially shared route), your time will be recorded based on the group you start in, and thus you have the situation of someone apprently clocking a 65km/h average....Confused.

Then the PPA checks the results (not WT).  The more obvious anomalies are easy to adress, but there are some others where the PPA has to contact the rider..."Are you QUITE sure you finished the whole of long route???" before the person can be DQ'ed.  The corrections are then passed to WT who will (normally) update the results pretty quickly.  Then, however, you get the situation that happened in Durbanville, where a full 200 cyclists were not "picked up" by the receiver(s).  To sort out this obviously took quite a bit of time, and until this had been sorted out, the "other" mistakes were not dealt with.

And no, I don't work for the PPA, WT or the Cycle Tour Trust.

No, this was only my second tandem race. Used to do junior league, taken off and rode normal seeding for a while and going to try out SWIFTS league from next week onwards.
